Fermanagh - Why I Love Where I Live
Source: Fermanagh Herald
I've always known my home of Fermanagh, one of the 32 counties in the Island of Ireland, and one of the 6 counties in Northern Ireland, was a place of beauty, nature and serenity. but not as much as now. You see, Fermanagh is quite a rural county of Ireland whose nature is relatively untouched.
You can find many different attractions just about any and everywhere you go in Fermanagh. For instance, Cuilcagh mountain, the first picture , Is a great walk of about 1&3/4 hours each way, on a good day. But to get to the peak, when you get to the fake top, turn left and keep walking.
Or perhaps if you're more into geology, you could make a trip to the marble arch caves, information of which can be found at the marble arch caves website linked here: www.marblearchcavesgeopark.com
But for those looking for a modern side to things, you could visit our county capital town, Enniskillen, the only Island Town in the island of Ireland. You can rent a boat to go around the river surrounding part of the town. You can visit Erneside, the shopping centre named after the Erne River, whose side it is at, hence the name 'Erneside'. Or you could visit Maud's ice cream parlour and café if the walking has you tired.
So, in summary, if you can afford it, you should get a flight out even for a weekend away, particularly if you come from Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland) where you can get a relatively cheap flight to and from Ireland, even just for a few days.
