BANTOG CABANATUAN CITYKIDS: How to Love Children and Help Them Thrive

in #travel7 years ago

Parenting is gardening.

The priority of the parents or guardians is to create right environment for them. Adding nutrients of acceptance and sunshine of love. When something about your child’s attitude makes you unhappy, our role is to teach the the proper one. Discipline is an old word and an old tradition to some, but still – much needed today in our culture and environment.

Children needs guidance from the ‘grown-ups’ on facing life’s difficultuies and to thrive in life. Loved children most likely will succeed in life. Here’s practical points on how the children can felt the love, so that they will thrive.

  • Create happy moments with your child. Take time to enjoy her/him. Bring the whole family to a restaurant or to a trip. Share good stories, instead of discouraging one. Avoid sermonizing during these times. Smile together. LOL together!

  • Appreciate your child. Notice the strenght, and give affirmation. When attitude of weakness seen, tackful and kind correction will help rather than errupting in anger.

  • Remember that your child is NORMAL. Children are annoying- yeah, irritating (because they came out from you!) Look at the mirror and look to your child and you will know what I mean. Remember when you were a child, you were vulnerable too. Don’t force them to ack like you, just LOVE THEM MORE.

  • As early as possible, provide avenues for your child to develop his/her talents. Enroll in music school, for example. Yes, these will cost you money but the investment is worthwhile.

  • Teach them spiritual things and guide them to higher standard of morality. In my family, praying and reading the Bible is priority. Attending church every Sunday is a big help to me as parent. You find a church where your child can learn great values. In this way, your child can also find their place of serving others.

Thriving children are the one who feel loved – not just heard it – but accepted the genuine love and then thrive.

What are these photos?

These photos taken during our Bantog Cabanatuan City Kids. We go to different barangays (villages or small districts), gather cluster of children (mostly underprevileged) and teaching them the love of God. This is one of those places. You will appreciate your life on how fortunate or blessed you are when you see these lovely kids face to face.

Heavy dark clouds in the horizon

Then heavy rains poured down, the kids don't want to leave and they waited. After 10 to 15 minutes, rain stopped and we continued the fun, music and story telling.
