Great Day in Carpathian Troy
I was visited in Carpathian Troy on event 21 august 2016
Carpathian Troy ? I never heard about it...
Trzcinica near Jasło The Carpathian Troy Open-Air Museum is located at Trzcinica, in south-eastern Poland, in Podkarpackie Voivodeship, a few kilometres north-west of Jasło, on the Valley of the Ropa River. 160, 000 artefacts The site where the open-air museum has been built is one of the most important archaeological sites in Poland with major importance for discovering the prehistory of Central-Eastern Europe.
In the course of archaeological works, particularly the ones carried out since 1991 by Jan Gancarski, over 160 000 artefacts have been unearthed here. The collection comprises pottery vessels, items made of clay, flint and stone, bone and horn as well as bronze and iron. Many of them are unique, considered to be fabulous pieces of prehistoric art and craft.
Carpathian Troy One of the earliest strongly fortified settlements known in Poland, dated to the beginnings of the Bronze Age, has been discovered at Trzcinica.
It was built as early as over 4000 years ago!
Furthermore, it was here where the first settlement of the Otomani-Füzesabony culture has been discovered in Poland. The culture was found to have been under strong Mediterranean influences and is dated to 1650-1350 BC. Taking into consideration the importance of the discovery, chronology and obvious south European influences, the site was called ‘the Carpathian Troy’. Royal Earthworks Over 2000 years after the fall of the Carpathian Troy the site was inhabited by the Slavs. They erected a large settlement of 3 hectares of land, surrounded by monumental earthworks which nowadays, in some parts, are still as high as 10 meters. This is exactly the site which is often called ‘Royal Earthworks’. The hillfort is dated to 770-1020 AD.

Open-air museum
In the lobby, an exhibition of four swords from bronze age (1200 – 1050 B.C.) were discovered by Michał Marek and Jakub Marchwka. The swords have been found near Nowy Żmigród, district Jasło. Amazing.
After seeing the exhibition located in the building, with stunning visuals and treasures of ancient life with fabulous work silver scabbard made in West Finland about VIII century. You have to see that precious craft.
We go to the open-air museum... but firstly, I note a high level of facilities - on-site restaurant, a special room for children, and very nice toilets. It is modern.
Lets go!
There were a lot of people, and I tried to not photograph them, so some pictures can not give fully work done in this open-air museum.
Middle age houses.
Craftsmanship
Here you can see the preparation for the smelting of bronze, but such similar stands were several. You probably liked most about the place where minted coin...
Beliefs
There was also a place of ancient worship, though it was not too strongly emphasized. At the end of the funeral ritual was held prince. But it did not take part - I do not like funerals.
#Duels
Next on the agenda - were dueling warriors. Some fight looked scary, shed blood. I also did the recording, but assemble them later, and if you want to also show you.
Ancient hill
Time to take deep breath and take the hillfort. That was nice climb, even if there were solid stairs.
View of the camp from the top.
View of the ancient settlement. It is the oldest fragment of the castle from the times of Troy - is two to three times larger than the familiar old castles from the Middle Ages. And that's not all there.
Observation Tower
It was not that bad. The tower has a solid staircase
And so I felt a little tired after climbing the top.
Is it paid off ?
Lines of fortifications.
Valley of river Ropa.
Sorry, I don't know what a mountain on the horizon...
Trzcinica, and in the background panorama of the Jaslo town. Do you like it?
Main Battle
Left the tower - returned to the battlefield. He held a contest for the best warrior. And waiting for us to prepare for the main battle. The staging had to present a battle between the defenders of the castle and invaders the first half of the eleventh century, when the city was conquered, destroyed and forgotten almost 1000 years.
I made some videos, too.
Invaders.
Russian team, I did not know that in the Middle Ages was known Hello Kitty...
All reminded me of the battle of Game of Thrones (s06e9), and certainly was better than many others of the tv series Vikings,
but there was one major difference - here was much more warriors...
and it was live, without repetition, assembly and computer processing.
Not only do they play - they fought really hard.
Each battle has its hero - was for the half-naked warrior with a huge crowbar.
There were several clashes, and eventually won the defenders. Castle was saved.
And finally on the battlefield littered countless wounded and corpses
The last clash ended with hot hugs of friendship.
I felt tired of the countless shows and slightly hungry and that ended a visit to the Carpathian Troy.
And thank you for watching and reading this blog.
