Yesanpo National Park || Day 1

in #travel7 years ago

Holy crap, what a beautiful weekend away! Just a "short" 7 hour bus ride from Jinan, nestled in the mountains is beautiful Yesanpo National Park! It's maybe an hour or so away from Beijin and it's breathtaking! I spent this past weekend there with my fellow coworkers and we had an absolute ball! On the first day, we of course arrived, had some lunch and immediately headed out to do our first hike! When we arrived at this park we were greeted with insane mountains, a beautiful waterfall and a river as well! This is probably the most nature I've seen in awhile and I can't even begin to tell you how happy I was!

We started out our hike, and let me say most hikes in China are pretty much all stairs, for some reason they believe it's easier than just a path through the mountain, in my opinion, it's not! Thankfully between flights of stairs there were multiple waterfalls, creeks, trees, and some of the most breathtaking views I have ever come across! It was quite a hike to get to the top, but we made it, rewarded ourselves with a popsickle and headed off to go to the glass bridge. I'm sure some of you have see photos of these bridges in China. It's just a glass walkway 1000's of feet in the air that you can walk on, it's rather frightening, but cool at the same time. I could not let go of the railing, my theory was that if the glass broke I could hold onto the rail for dear life!

This was probably one of the most terrifying things I've ever done, but so worth it! After the bridge we hiked back down to the bottom and headed back to the village we were staying in, which had a population of a few hundred most likely. It was so incredibly nice to get out of the city for the weekend and just enjoy a small area and lots of nature! Stay tuned for day two of Yesanpo National Park!
