Pedestrian Facilities in 3 Cities of Indonesia (Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and Banda Aceh)
Good morning / afternoon / evening steemians around the world, may we all be in good shape.
Car Free Day Jakarta
A good city is a city that is friendly to all its citizens, no exception for pedestrians. Unfortunately, the University of Stanford's research shows that the laziest people walking the world are Indonesians who are in the top position by taking 3,513 steps per day. This means that cities in Indonesia have not been able to attract pedestrians. In contrast to cities with better sidewalks, such as New York and San Francisco, citizens are more diligent on foot.
Why does this happen? Is it because of the time-effective factor, the convenience, or the poor pedestrian facilities?
Based on experience, walking activity is a lot of energy drain and make the skin become dark due to exposure to the sun. The positive impact is in addition to healthy, on foot we will be more satisfied to enjoy the atmosphere of the city. Following the experience of enjoying walking facilities in 3 cities in Indonesia, namely Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and Banda Aceh.
Yogyakarta city
This romantic city is arguably one of the most respected cities in Indonesia. Proven with the extensive and beautiful arrangement of sidewalks, especially on the road Malioboro, thus making residents feel at home to walk. So no wonder, with keistimeaannya, Yogyakarta is always able to attract tourism, both local and foreign.
Jakarta city
As the capital city, this metropolitan city is considered as the interest of Indonesia, so it is reasonable if everyone is interested to follow its development. In fact, Jakarta Provincial Government has been trying to provide sidewalk for pedestrians, but the act of merchants who sell their merchandise on the sidewalks even forced their citizens to walk in the crowded streets with vehicles. As a result, the number of pedestrian accidents increases, so people choose not to walk again.
Banda Aceh city
City 1001 coffee shop is located at the western tip of Indonesia. After the tsunami in 2004, now Banda Aceh clean up a beautiful and friendly city. Unmitigated, development begins in many ways, such as infrastructure, tourism, education, and so forth. Then what about the pedestrian facility in this Serambi City of Mecca? The government-provided sidewalks are very good, especially on Daud Beureueh Street, around Bustanussalatin Park, and around the Baiturrahman Mosque. But there is no awareness of the community to diligently walk, it is visible from the city sidewalks are often empty.
This is the result of my brief observation of pedestrian facilities in Indonesia. Actually there is still Banjarmasin City and Malang, Just still I am looking photo in private file. Insha Alllah I will publish at a later time.
Thank you for visiting, hopefully this post useful.
