Marken, 30 minutes from Amsterdam
Last weekend I visited Marken, a small island near Amsterdam. I had actually never really heard of it but of course, a lot of the tourists did.
It looked very nice and it was a very different experience from Volendam, which is similar but a lot more crowded with tourists. You can walk around the island, rent a bicycle or take a boat trip.

Wow that's an extremely pretty place. Actually I notice a lot of villages like this around Amsterdam. Places like Aalsmeer etc. Even Alkmaar has pretty streets.
Was there much to do in Marken apart from taking some nice shots?
It's quit small and there were some tourist attractions but you really go there to walk around and see the picturesque houses and harbour. I think it takes about 2 hours to walk around the whole island.
