Travellers on the route from Abuja to Kaduna and other States in the North-west are usually confounded by the scary looks of the rock. Some say the rock is evil personified while others claim it possesses some magical powers.
Zuma rock is a monolithic inselberg with a human face, located in Madalla, Niger state. It is considered as a watchman of the Federal capital territory. The other mountains around stay at a considerable distance as a form of respect to its royal presence as believed by the people of Zuba.

Zuma rock is a popular landmark in Nigeria. It is 3.1km in circumference and stands at a height of 725m above the surrounding area. It is also said to be twice the height of Uluru rock in Australia.
For first time climbers, it is advised to climb through the East side. Climbing take approximately 5hrs and it gives the opportunity of having an aerial view of Abuja as well as its environs.
Visiting Zuma rock between April and October, which marks the rainy season in central Nigeria, would afford you the chance of seeing catch fire under heavy downpour. It has remained a wonder to behold over time.
