Mohn Mohn, mountains and mead.

in #travel7 years ago

I've been long gone, admittedly. 2017 has not been that kind I guess. I lost my dog Jem. I grew up with her. And she passed away in November while I was away in Austria (still am)- I got robbed on Christmas and roofied (my fault for leaving my drinks on the counter) among a few other setbacks.

Anyway, here's a picture of me!! 😜

In my newly bought corset. And ears that I lost on Christmas.

Something strange happened though. Just yesterday. Back in Malaysia. I was about to sleep when my parents texted me saying that they found a dog behind the washing machine. My house is pretty impossible to get in. The multiverse works in reaaaally strange ways. You know?? I was just telling my Austrian friends that I'd call a new puppo Mohn Mohn which literally translates to Poppy Poppy from German. I really love poppies and poppy seeds and my close friend here Petra, reminds me of poppies. I call her Poppy. Lol.

Also, I've been reaally into trails, hikes, treks and mountain climbings.

Here is a picture of the mountain I went up yesterday. It was snowing reaaaally heavily and I went up more than 5 kilometres in a few tiny snow blizzards. I had toooo much fun. And sledding too!!

Also, mead. Something else I tried here.

Mead is soooo delicious!! You all have to try it if you haven't. It's Austrian honey wine.

And another picture on a mountain. Plabutsch and I was on an area called Thal.

Where I hiked for more than 5 km and then sledding.

And lastly, my Mohn Mohn. Or Butters as my parents wanna call him.

He likes sleeping in dust pans, following my mum around and he has the most innocent eyes in the world.

I never believed in new years' luck but it seems like the universe has a force to be reckoned with :)

Later gators!! In my next post: more mountains and travel pictures and expect more of Butters 😊😋 He's family now!!

I try and have a few glasses of mead whenever I attend the local renaissance fair. It's frightfully expensive, but it's so delicious. They have one fermented with hibiscus that is absolutely divine!

Wow hibiscus!! The only one I've tried was a basic one with honey. Costs about 15 Euros. It is so delicious!! It's my first time trying it. I also had Zirberl (Austrian pinecone alcohol)- that's amazing too!!

Yeah, we spend $5 USD for about 200mL at the faire.

Oh yeah that is pretty pricey 😣😣 alcohol in Europe (mainly Germany and Austria) is comparatively cheaper!! Malaysia- where I'm from has horrendous alcohol taxation.

Most other alcohol isn't nearly as bad. The upper shelf whiskeys and rums I usually purchase are around $20-30USD for a 750mL bottle. Something like Gray Goose goes for around $30 for 750mL.

I just checked a bottle of Gray goose for us in Malaysia costs more than 70 USD 😭😭 Man our alcohol taxations are seriously skyhigh.

And Gray Goose isn't cheap, either. It's pretty good stuff.
