Traveling around South America - Visiting the worlds biggest salt flat in Bolivia!
Located at the crux of Bolivia, Argentina and Chile you can find one of the most extraordinary and remarkable places on this planet. Visiting the world’s biggest salt flat Salar de Uyuni at the southern border of Bolivia and its surrounding colourful lagoons with lots of flamingos, is an experience you will never forget. On a multiple day tour, you will be able to see one of Bolivia’s most famous attractions and although you probably might spend some cold nights in rustic accommodations and hours in a small 4x4 jeep on bumpy and dusty roads, it definitely pays off.
There are various jumping-off points to explore this remote and rural area and there are tours leaving from San Pedro de Atacama in Chile and from Uyuni and Tupiza in Bolivia. Starting from Uyuni you will first visit an antique train cemetery at the outskirts of the town, before heading into the enormous salt flat. After having some delicious llama meat for lunch in the middle of the dessert, you will have plenty of time to make use of your camera and the salt flats unique characteristics to play with perspectives and to create exceptional photos.
On the following days you should be prepared to spend a lot of time on unpaved roads and in the small vehicle. Heading further south, you will leave the salt flat behind you and drive through desert landscapes before arriving to colourful high-altitude lagoons, including the Laguna Verde and Laguna Colorada, which offer stunning vistas and, depending on the season, the possibility to see hundreds of flamingos in their natural environment.
Make sure to get used to high altitude before heading into the salar, as you will spend most of the time at around 3500 meters above sea level. Bring warm cloths and get used to the idea that due to the remote location you won’t have access to the internet and due to lack of warm water, you might not be able to shower for some days! Don’t forget to charge all your batteries and to bring your camera with plenty of memory in your memory card.
Other than that be prepared to have one of the most memorable adventures of your life!

Sounds like an awesome place.
Love your photos, you got some great shots.
Here in Australia we have a large salt lake called lake Eyre. I stood on the edge of it when it was dry when I was younger and all I could see was an endless sea salt.
Thanks for sharing.
Have an awesome day!
