It's wonderful roaming the world, isn't it? So many new places to explore... the different cultures, climates and scenery all capture the imagination and inject a sense of life into you.
Australia is a large and beautiful country with diversity in everything from climate to wildlife. We're an easy going population and we'd love to have you on your next overseas holiday.
...but maybe there's something we can do for each other before you board the plane...
You see, what's not so nice when travelling is:
The drudgery of dealing with converting currency
Worrying about how to keep it safe when on the move
Hoping that you can access funds when you need them on your trip
What a BUZZ KILL!
... but don't despair! You see at #teamaustralia we've been working on an idea to make this easier for visitors to our sun-browned land. For those who haven't heard of wirexapp.com, they're a UK based company that provides cards that can be used just like a Visa card but they're funded by your bitcoin. The catch is, currently Wirex only support GBP, USD & EUR denominated cards.
So we're petitioning Wirex to introduce an Australian Dollar denominated bitcoin card!
This will be of great benefit for us Aussies, but will equally be very useful for travelers visiting Australia. You see, the more signatures we can get on our petition, the more chance we all have of seeing this become a reality. Win - Win!

Here's the detailed spiel:
There’s precious little in terms of choice when it comes to “debanking” options for Australians. For those unaware of the term, debanking refers to an individual’s ability to remove themselves as clients of the banking system and all the restrictions that it entails.
For now, the majority of Australians are tied to a system of employment whereby currency is earned, taxed and deposited into a bank account but there are options regarding what those funds can then be used for.
Wirex is a company that offers a card akin to a normal bank card with the important difference being that it is able to be funded via bitcoin. This is an important feature as it provides the ability to free ourselves from bank issued cards when transacting.
Unfortunately, Wirex currently only provides support for USD, GBP and EUR accounts which means that transactions made on these cards in any other currency attract a 3% currency conversion fee. This is a cost prohibitive issue.
This petition is to illustrate to Wirex the level of demand for Australian Dollar support in the hope that they will introduce a card denominated in AUD. This would provide a significant improvement in transaction freedom by allowing Australians to convert their earnings into bitcoin and then essentially use that to spend with a card.
It'd only take a moment to pass a pitch on to one or two of your friends or colleagues in the hope that they too see the benefits and sign the petition.

I know of some who have really helped out. Having a consistent post footer or continued referencing in posts would be very effective if widely adopted. I've been doing the same. Thank you again!

Great fredback @irfanullah, thank you. Yes due to its size, Australia can feel like many different places. From the tropics and far north to Tasmania in the south it's all worthwhile year-round. Watch the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean in the East and set over the Indian Ocean in the West.

Thanks kindly Adam. It was actually @stocka who had the idea of trageting the tourism market. A real 💡moment... and it makes perfect sense. There's equal if not more appeal for a multi currency bitcoin powered travel card as there would be in the domestic market. Your support is appreciated mate. I'm going to watch your progress. (I don't want to dilute Wirex's attention from the great work that #teamaustralia is doing) Once AUD is available, it'll be time for Canadian Dollars!!!
But hopefully, vendors will start seeing the advantage of dealing direct in cryptocurrency and we won't have to worry about and conversion to fiat currencies.

Canada is a similarly large and diverse country and with its proximity to the US I see a good business case for CAD support after AUD as you say... but I don't make the decisions 😊
