Things To Remember While Travelling With Pets!
As the Academic Year is drawing to an end and the holidays fast approaching, planning a vacation long or short is the next big thing to do...Pets are not just pets, in our houses they are our extended family members. Now a days staying alone or just in nuclear families is just very common, in such cases living with extended families is really an advantage over others. On the other hand when we plan to travel for a long drive or a holiday you have no other choice than to take your pets along with you.
Travelling with pets is not that easy as they also find difficulties in adjusting with the changes. As we are aware that travel sickness is not meant just for humans!!!
So lets prepare a checklist of the things we need to remember while travelling with pets:
*Don't ever plan a very long trip for your pet for the first travel, take your pet out on a long drive along with you and observe his reactions, whether there are any behavioral or mood changes...this can really be helpful as we can analyse whether he is enjoying or not..or is he prone to travel sickness.
*Take your pet to the veterinarian before embarking on your trip.This is the first and foremost thing for any travel with the pets.
*If you are planning an international trip double check with the airlines pet policies. Because different airlines have different policies and missing out on some minor details may land you up in trouble at the airport.
*If your pet is allowed in the cabin ,take care of the fact that the crate is placed properly where the fellow passengers have no reason to complain.
*If the pet is not allowed for a cabin flight and transferred to a cargo trip , don't show over concern towards your pet and don't forget to keep his pet toys in his crate,so that he does not feel bored on board.
*Don't force or push your pet forcibly in the crate ,let him go by himself.Ask him to move in with a smile as animals can read your emotions well.After all he is your pet he knows you pretty well..
*On the other end you dont forget to carry the required documents to carry a pet ;along with your passport..
*There are many hotels that do not entertain pets so make sure you have chosen a hotel that allows pets.
*Buckle up your pet properly and if travelling by road carry the pet seat belt and pet car seat.
*Pets like to wander around ,so their wander should not disturb the person driving.
*Stop now and then ...take those pit stops so that the pet is relaxed .Always keep your pet hydrated.
*Always keep an eye on the windows, because pets like to peep out. At times it can be dangerous.
