The Anonymous Pedestrian - exclusive on steemit

Hi fellow Steemians!

Today I'd like to introduce you to the Anonymous Pedestrian by Jerzy Kalina. You can find this sculpture in Wrocław Breslau near the city center.

It consists of several bronze statues of people who go down into the pavement and come up again on the other side of the street. It was shown the first time in 2005 and is a memorial to the introduction of martial law on December 13, 1981 and the people who disappeared or went "underground" in the middle of the night.

By night, the figures appear just a bit creepy, especially if you imagine they represent "the disappeared".

Nice job on the photography and thank you for sharing this art with us too!

In the province of Quebec, in Canada, there is a group of statues coming out of the St. Lawrence River, big tidal river at this point, all the way up to the shore and the store of the artist who sculpted them. The effect uncanny as well...

Namaste :)

Thank you :)
Had to search for the Canadian statues. Are these the ones you mentioned?

You bet! Good for you, good for us all! Here's another picture that shows them in a different angle. I found this one on google search photos:

The artist responsible for this is a monument of his own and his creations, from the house it self to the pieces inside of it as well as outside as you have noticed, are marvelled at by thousands of people every year. They are very beautiful human beings. congratulations on finding the statues.

All for one and one for all! Namaste :)

Hi! Are you in Wrocław? I am living here :)

I walk next to this sculpture every day when I am walking to my job :)

I was there end of January for a couple of days. Probably will return in summer :)

Feel free to message me when you will be here again. We can go for a coffee or a beer :)

Thanks for the offer :)

This is pretty interesting. Martial law is no joke, and I can understand what drove the people underground.

I wonder what life was like underground. How did they get around, see where they were going, and so forth.
