The wonderful Hundred Islands in Pangasinan, Philippines, amazing side trips, expenses and my experience.
This National Park in Alaminos City, Pangasinan, Philippines, is composed of 123 islands and islets. Aside from the wonderful and uniqueness of each islands you'll opt to visit with a boat, there are several fun activities and also you will be more surprised how cheap traveling to this place.
My shot in panorama. There are many more beauties behind my back as i take this photo. You can see more beauties of it as i take you further...
How to go and how it's cheap to travel here
Hundred Islands is about 4-6 hours from Manila (via bus from Manila going to Alaminos City in Pangasinan). The bus fare is just about 400-450 Pesos (4 or 4.5 Steem assuming the exchange rate in this time of writing is 1 US Dollar equal to 50 Philippine Pesos) and then ride a tricycle going to Lucap wharf (in the gate of Hundred Islands) for 100 Pesos or 1 Steem.
So the gateway to the National Park is by Alaminos City to where we are going to rent a boat, snorkeling gears, and etc. before going to the islands.
The things we can do in hundred islands are Island-hopping, camping, kayaking, snorkeling, helmet diving, rappeling, wall-climbing, banana-boat, freediving, picnicking, hiking and trekking, zipline from island-to-island, diving areas, plus peaks of each islets giving us stunning views. You can rent some of their rooms but for me it's more fun camping here or outside the park you can rent some good inns with good food.
So here are the basic expenses you have to spend when you reach the National Park:
- You will have to pay for entrance fees, P40 (0.4 Steem) for day tour and P80 (0.8 Steem) for overnight.
- Environmental fees for P30
- You can rent trekking shoes or slippers, life vests, plus snorkeling gear set maximum worth of P250 each person
Renting a Motorboat:
- Small motorboat (for 1-5 persons) is P1,400 or for a day tour, P3,000 for overnight.
- Medium motorboat (for 6-10 persons) is P1,800 for a day tour, P3,800 for overnight.
- Large motorboat (11-15 persons) is P2,000, 4,500 for overnight.
Optional activities that i've tried
Helmet Diving for 400 pesos or about like 4 Steem
Zipline from island-to-island for hust P250 or about like 2.5 Steem
Snorkeling and diving can be done anywhere but ask your guide the perfect spots to dive.
Crossing this floating pathway to another island was very fun because it's very windy up there our adrenaline was pumped up haha just make sure you have your life vest if you can't swim or you'll be drowned.
This guesthouse is perfectly located in the peak of an island, you can rent it for P5,000 or 50 Steem for overnight stay.
The most visited beaches in the islands looks like these:
It has some guest houses, gazebos and activity spots. But i like the most to tell my guide to visit are the lone beaches with no man-made things like these:
It is where i found my inner peace and felt like i am Tom Hanks of the movie "Cast Away".
There are many islands more than i forgot to take a picture including of a beautiful cave with a diving spot, beaches with white, fine sands, wall-climbing areas, beautiful resthouses, and many more. There are fastfoods there, but i opt to bring myself foods and stayed in an inn outside the national park for my night stay for better foods because i don't have camping items.
Amazing sidetrips
I went to Bolinao, Pangasinan the next day, and the views were stunning. Went to the hidden Bolinao Falls, Beautiful Patar beach, and its rock-formation. I just paid P1,300 (13 Steem) for the tour guide with a free tricycle ride to him.
The Bolinao Falls has a mix of shallow and very deep spots.
This is the beautiful Patar Rock Formation in Bolinao. The waves and the wind is so strong so i didn't go into the water, but instead i went to the beach nearby that's called Patar Beach.
As i went to this wonderful place, i realized that there is more to life than being in a relationship.
