Navigatio #1, see through my eyes: Egyptian Museum, Cairo, Egpyt

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

My first travel log is all about my visit to Egyptian Museum in Cairo, Egypt's sprawling capital. As I shared in my previous post, I'm not a good writer but I will try and make this post look good to readers can feel what I felt.

Me and my best friend @mehwishpeter landed and were staying in Cairo so we decided to start visiting the places that are at walking distance from our hotel. Our hotel was in downtown, Cairo which is near to the amazing Egyptian Museum so we asked our hotel's management about the route, timings and tickets prices for museum. We got up early at 7 am and got ready to see the mummies. We also booked a guide, costs 200 Egyptian pounds. He showed us the museum and shared stories behind all antiquities laying there.

The museum opening timings are 8: 00 am to 4: 30 pm (hours posted on google aren't accurate, so better check it locally before you go there). The entrance fee/ticket is 75 Egyptian pounds but if you're a student, you only have to show them your student ID and ticket will be 35-40 Egyptian pounds (Yeah they have discounts available for students :D)

Address; 15 Meret Basha, Ismailia, Qasr an Nile, Cairo Governorate, Egypt

The museum has a great collection of Egyptian Antiquities, some restored and some are preserved in their original form. Most of the antiquities are all about gold and next life.

A normal person's mummy. Yes, they used to mummify every person and not only kings and royal family. They even used to mummify animals.

We weren't allowed to take pictures of Royal Mummies but took pictures of jewelry and accessories of the youngest king to rule at the age of 9 and die at the age of 18 only Tutankhamen. Beautiful, isn't it?
There's actually a big room, just filled with his jewelry, gold head, his gold clothes and stuff.
