How I Became a Flight Attendant

in #travel6 years ago

My boyfriend and I have recently broken up after almost 5 years and I was crushed. I had to take a step back and look at my worth and relearn who I was before him. I always had a dream of becoming a flight attendant, however when I fell in love nothing else mattered.

Fast forward

I applied to every airline that was hiring at the time. I applied for 5 airlines, all I got accepted to take an assessment. Only three I passed.
The assessment is a personality test that's easy if pay attention. They are the same questions in different ways. They want to see if you are being honest and can pay attention. You only get to the assessment if your review is in the line of what they want. Make sure you revise it before applying.

After the assessment, you are asked to do a video interview.
The interview is kind of weird only because you are talking to yourself.
A question is in front of you and you 30 sec to prepare an answer and two minutes to actually answer.

Try practicing in the mirror or with a friend.
Different airlines have a different amount. About 4-8 questions.
All the questions are customer service based.

This part was the hard part of it all WAITING

If you so happen to get a call back in a couple days congratulations! lol
It took 3 weeks for a regional and one of the main airlines, however, it took 3MONTHS for me to hear back from the airline I wanted.
After the video interviews, I got an offer on two to do a face to face interview.

I took the regional airlines because they called me back so fast.
I had to pay for my flight to my interview and that was nerves recking.
Most mainline airlines will pay for you to come to them.

After you do an interview is another waiting game to go to Inflight training.
I waited 2.5 months to go.

My training is 4 weeks but some training is up to 8 weeks long. Only after you pass training will you then get your wings and officially be a flight attendant. So don't go around telling people you made it quite yet. It's a rough couple of weeks and you can only fail one test the whole time.

Plus you don't want to tell anyone you have become a flight attendant because then everyone wants the plug on some tickets. smh no ma'am, no sir.

Moral of the story ladies and gents is if you want to be a flight attendant, be patient and APPLY APPLY APPLY!
Do your research on if you want to do regional or mainline. The routes, the salaries, and the benefits.
