A day in Toronto Island
Hi, Dear Steemians
Everybody knows Toronto is a large city, today my post lead you to the islands situated to the southern part of the downtown in Lake Ontario.
Very simple to reach from Union subway station you catch a train and then a ferry which leads to me to the Centre Island close to Ned Hanlan's memorial.
A corner of nature surrounded by the waters of Lake Ontario, ideal to hike or visit by bike too when the weather is sunny An afternoon which was good but not warm enough. However ideal to discover the vegetation and beaches from Hanlan ferry dock.
Hiking on this island has been a great idea to spend time without the noise of downtown. Walking down the main road I found very peaceful, people enjoy their time and someone just spend time close to their boats.
The water is clean and transparent and beaches they sand dunes and they seem to be well-preserved. I wanted to swim but it was too cold and impossible to swim.
I did not expect to find a telephone in the middle of a beach, I mean it was a surprise.
Due to some lake floodings, some beaches were closed, but most of them were open. I did not expect to find such red colourful plants close to the beach.
I spend time on the island also during and after the sunset and take some photos. I felt almost alone on the island but did not mind. I really enjoy seeing the sun going down.
I came back to Hanlan's Point to catch the last ferry to the downtown at 9.30pm I arrived in advance to take further photos of the downtown I spent around one hour and a half enjoy its view from the island.
The downtown of Toronto from the island during the night looks stunning, doesn't it?
The island seems to be empty during the sunset however close to Ned Hanlan's memorial other people were waiting for the ferry like me.
It has been a joyful Sunday, sunny and relaxing.
If you go to Toronto you should spend some time on this island.
Hope you like it
Best Regards
