Cultural heritage of Czech Republic: picturesque wine cellars in Petrov
Hi there my Steemit friends and followers!
Today, I decided to provide you with a little insight into the culture and traditions of my beautiful homeland, the Czech Republic. Some time ago, I visited an amazing place that was declared a "Folk Architectural Landmark" in 1983.
Found in the tiny South Moravian town of Petrov, some of these picturesque wine cellars were built as early as in the 15th century.
The complex consists of some 80 wine cellars these days and it is open to public all year round. If you visit this place in summer or early autumn though, you will have a unique chance to taste some of the finest and most delicious Moravian wines that local winemakers sell right in the cellars.
Some of the cellars are even covered with grapevine and decorated with beautiful traditional paintings.
Although the weather was not very good when I was there and the photos that I took thus failed to capture the vivid colors and joyful atmosphere of the place, I enjoyed this trip very much. Definitely a place not to miss out on when you are in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic ;)
Looking at your pictures, I recognised it! I visited the Czech Republic about 20 years ago and visited this same winery. Thank you from South Africa
Wow, really?! And you recognized that place from these photos I took there just some two months ago? How cool is that! Thanks for stopping by man :) All the best to South Africa!
