My first time trying Coldstone Creamery. (Bangkok, Thailand).

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

I don't like traveling- I love arriving at my destination.

I do not enjoy the taxis, buses, airport terminals etc. I just don't have patience to stand in long queues in general. The first day in Thailand, my boyfriend and I booked a hotel near the BKK airport just to stay for the night before got into our private SUV to head to Pattaya.

After we showered and rested for few hours, we went out to get some street food. Since we were so close to the airport, and not in a great area; Our choices were limited.

After this quick snack was done we walked around, and like clockwork- I was suddenly craving for something cold, playful and sweet... Ice cream?

We had a quick stopover at this cafe where I got myself a black bean popsicle. Yeah, it doesn't sound great! It was my first time trying this flavor, previously I only had black bean as a topping on 'halo-halo', in the Philippines. This isn't my last ice cream for the day though! After this we went to the mall and my sweet tooth attacked me again, I got to have another ice cream!

Cold stone creamery? What is this madness? I have never seen this before, my boyfriend said its one of his favorites.

Will you believe me if I told you I had more than 15 different ice creams on this trip? (In three weeks). Imagine how much sugar and calories that it is, yet I still manage to stay slim :)

(Well, it's my little minnow secret I have, that a lot of you still don't know, it's not the gym, ask me what it is and I might tell you (wink!).)

I have to say this makes me want to franchise a cold stone creamery, lol.

My last meal of the day was Japanese curry. Love me some extra spice! ^_-

Thank you @joannewong! Where are you from?

@purepinay, I'm from Malaysia :)

Born and rais in Malaysia? You're only a few people hrs flight away from Thailand!

Yeah, born and raised in Malaysia. Yes, about 2 hours plus flight.

Have you tried Tokyo-Tokyo's Chocolate Snow Ice? Your post reminds me of this kind of ice cream. I tried one like this in the Philippines. It's not as sweet as other ice creams. It was in fact a bit salty. If ever you get sick and tired of sweets, you might find it a good an alternative.

no I haven't, that sounds good! I wonder if I can get that anywhere in Cebu. Sweet and Savory, I love that!

Traveling is fun! Is thailand's weather same as in the Philippines? Or is it hotter?

It's the same for me if I go down the city. I live up on the mountain so it's a little bit cooler but when I go to the town which is 15 mins away from the condo I live, it gets humid.

where do you usually travel?

btw, thank you for visiting my page. I like when people ask me questions it makes me want to interact more coz if not I don't know what else to say other than "Thank you!" hahaha

Thanks for replying. I'm following your post and I love to read your article. Plus I am a Pinay too so I can relate with you! I'm from US but been traveling within in the 50 States although I haven't conquer all of it yet. I've been to the Philippines recently and I missed my family, foods and place dearly. There are some countries that I would love to visit one day! Such as China, Greece,Hawaii,etc... The lists could go on!

At last i stumble a blog who is from Phillippines also. I like to travel a lot but it cost a lot of money, so for now i'm just getting myself contented of reading travel blogs, food, life story and other article. You're one that i followed now. Love your travel diaries. Mabuhay! :)

travel in Thailand doesnt need to be expensive, its much cheaper than travelling in Phils. Do some research and perhaps you will soon be writing your own travelogue . Best wishes :-)

@nathen007

Travelling, in general, is costly even for middle-class Filipinos, I always complain about the travel tax at the airport for Filipinos leaving our country, how sad is that? 1700+ plus the terminal fee to go out and see the world, this alone can buy you a whole sack of rice depending on the brand and can feed a whole family in a full month.

Without my investments, it would be possible for me to travel outside the Philippines and oh not to mention if get lucky. I remember one time, an Immigration officer told me "even if I have a million peso in my pocket she won't let me out of the country!" I was terrified!

anyways, good thing I will be migrating soon, LOL Thanks to crypto!

I agree about the travel tax, its disgraceful. When I used to travel there a lot, going back 10+ years, I used to complain about the departure tax. 300pesos if I remember rightly.....and I do understand the economics of living there so apologies if my comment came across as uneducated and flippant....I just wanted the poster to aim for it and not think its out of reach thats all :-)

Really costly @purepinay became rich I think @tessalonica

Looks really tempting, Thailand has been one of the country that I visited most frequently. I am going there next week for weekend holiday just to eat! Can't wait to feast on my boat noodles and pad thai. Looks like you're a foodie too, check me out @explorernations perhaps?
