THE BEAUTY OF MT. ULAP : A TRAVEL BLOG
Hi everyone, my name is Rb and welcome to my very first travel blog for this month. Its been awhile since I posted here on my steem account and now that Im back I decided to make my account more of a travel blog type of thing, So i guess expect more beautiful scenery I want to show you as I explore the beauty of the Philippines.
And now, let me show you where my feet put me today and be mesmerized with the beauty of Mt. Ulap located at Itogon Benguet.
My trip started here at San Fernando, La Union where a van fetched me together with 26 people who also paid for a package tour going to Mt. Ulap
It was a 1hr and 30mins drive from San Fernando to Baguio City and another 30 mins from Baguio to Itogon where we finally arrived at the receiving area of Mt. Ulap around 4am
Here, you can grab some food for breakfast and they also sell stuffs for hiking such as Hiking poles, socks, bags, caps and many more. But I suggest that you buy trail foods before going such as choco bars, jelly ace and ofcourse bring atleast a liter of water. After the orientation, we started walking at around 4:20 am.
We walked up until we reached the first peak of our hike. The camp site 1 around 5:30am where
I was mesmerized with beauty of the sky at the verge of sun rise
And just after a few minutes, the sun rises to show its real beauty to us.
It was cold at that site but the beauty of its view made me walked more and gave me the urge to see more. So we continued our walk and along the trail you can see the view of the glorious mountains of Benguet.
Before reaching the second peak, we were able to passed by a mini rock formation on the side of the mountain where you can take a picture on your own risk because I tell you its a lot scarier than it looks like in the picture. The secret of it is by not looking down
Then finally, we arrived at the second peak of the trail where you will see a rock formation a lot bigger and scarier than the mini rock formation a while ago. It is tilted, I think around 30 degrees so you really need to have guts on doing this picture
Only ten seconds per person was allotted for taking a photo on that rock formation. Then we continued climbing to the last and final peak of Mt. Ulap
And finally, we were at the peak of Mt. Ulap after trekking for more than 3 hours. Despite the pain, I can say that the view on top was worth the trail.
But the fun wasnt over because we still have to walk 3.5km from the peak going down on the other side of it. According to my research, Hikers rate the going up 3/10 for its difficulty and for the going down its 4/10 that makes the going down a little bit tougher. Take note that going to Mt. Ulap is just considered as a minor climb for Hikers.
Along the way going down, there are souvenir stores and food place where you can take a break. It took us almost 8 hrs to finish the trail (4:30am-12nn). It was indeed tiring but all of it was worth it. So that concludes my Mt. Ulap Adventure for today. If you want to request a place where I can visit for you here in the Philippines just feel free to drop a comment and dont forget to follow me :)
