Your Tour of the National World War II Museum in New Orleans!
Regarding World War II: Do you have any relatives, or do any of your friends have relatives, who fought in this conflict about 75 years ago?
This museum was breathtaking, sobering, and inspiring.
The incredible volume of equipment, vehicles, and weapons assembled there is absolutely amazing.
Here's where the museum is located:
The bottom left of the map 🗺 has the museum circled. The middle right of the map has a 1 ounce Silver Dollar coin on top of Bourbon Street, with that whole section colored purple, indicating the French Quarter.
This is the spot where Mardi Gras goes down every year in February or early March.
It's about a 20 minute walk to get from Bourbon Street to the WWII Museum.
This is your dog tag you will receive when entering the museum. You can use it to access particular data throughout the museum after you have selected a soldier you will follow throughout the war.
The climate is controlled in different areas to give you a tangible "feel" for the environment displayed.
Overhead, honest testimonials play in a loop from soldiers who were there.
Movies 🎥 showing War footage are scattered throughout the Museum, and radio broadcasts from that era are played overhead.
The heavy equipment and vehicles are incredible.
With literally hundreds of exhibits, you could spend an entire day there and you MIGHT be able to spend the time necessary on the sections that pique your interest.
The weapons area was extensive; here is just one of the cases:
What an amazing one-of-a-kind experience!
If you're ever in New Orleans, be sure to check out the WWII Museum!

I was happy when the replica of spitfire used in that war was brought into Lesotho in commemoration of our legends that put their lives on the line. Lovely museum though
History is SO fascinating.

Hm! what an interesting post! my grandfather participated in this event and I am so honoured to come across such a post.
If not for for people like your grandfather, I fear we would be living in a very different world today...
