How to Travel Light

in #travel6 years ago

Traveling is not as big as an ordeal people would like to believe. In fact, it's cheaper to travel than it is to stay at home. As long as you put your money in food, transportation, and shelter, you have very little to fear.

However, there are certain things one must prepare for before traveling. After all, you don't want to bring too much that will hinder you. Nor do you want to be underprepared. Here are some things I learned from my travels.

  1. Plan ahead of time.

The best way to enjoy a trip is to plan ahead. Learn how to budget, where you are going, and how you are going to get there and back. DON'T over plan yourself into madness. Life is very chaotic and it will throw you a lot of curve balls. Just get an idea of what needs to be done.

  1. Travel Light

If you don't need to bring a high-end gaming laptop just leave it at home. You can wash your clothes at your local laundromat. And yes, you can survive without your smartphone.

When traveling, you will be surprised at how little you truly need. Just a dry bed, food, water, a decent shelter, and a decent company of people is enough for any trip. Just bring a few pairs of clothes, some essentials, and you should be golden.

3 Get Your Documents in Order

Be aware that if you are traveling intentionally, you need to get your documents in order. That means passports updated, your visas are cleared, and anything else that is a proof of I.D. That despite living in a world where big brother knows everything, you still need proof of I.D. to get anywhere in the world.

  1. Make Backups

If you are traveling, make sure you make backups of any important documents and data. Such as passport, I.D., car info, bank accounts, etc. Because whether you are a victim of identify theft, or your information was destroyed by acts of nature, it's best to have backups in case of the worse should happen.

  1. Get All NECESSARY Vaccination Shots.

Many parts of the world still face malaria, Dengue fever, and even rabies. Thus it is imperative that you should get vaccinated if you are going to any of these places. For Americans check out the CDC site for more information:
