Places to visit when in Bangalore (Bengaluru) #2 - Avalabetta hilltop
It's been a long time since I've been on Steemit and I'm now back with the 2nd post in my series of Places to visit when in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
This place is called AVALABETTA. It is a rocky hilltop situated about 100kms from Bangalore city. The hilltop is approachable along the Bangalore - Hyderabad highway. This visit was orchestrated by a travel organizing group called The Travelling Circus. Riders from across Bangalore met at one point and we had a briefing about the travel to the location.
Our journey began around 7AM local time and we set off on our journey on our bikes. The group had a refreshment break at Kamath Upachar near Chikkaballapur. This is a place where most of the superbikes stop for a quick bite before they head out on their Sunday morning rides. Along with my friends, I was busy taking pictures of all the superbikes parked there after finishing our breakfast (I'll write about that in a separate post soon!).
Once we reached the hilltop, it was a battle to find a parking space for all the bikes in our group. There isn't enough parking like there was at Nandi Hills. Once the bikes were parked, time to head over to experience the hilltop view of the surroundings. There's a temple at the entrance and then there are multiple viewpoints for people to visit. Take a look at some pictures of the views that we enjoyed!
As it was a Sunday morning, there were a lot of people and getting too many pictures of the place was a really very tedious task apart from finding a parking spot earlier. There is one particular spot that's everyone's favourite picture spot. It is a suspended end of a rock that is shaped like a bird's beak. The line to get to that point was a very long one and I just gave up and don't have a picture of self posing over that piece of rock. Here's a picture of that spot from a different angle.
The place isn't open all day long. It is looked after by KSTDC and the guards employed ask people to vacate the place around noon. As it is a rocky place, ideally non-slippery footwear is a big plus and barefooting must be avoided at all costs. I'll leave you with some more pictures from the place and I've put a smiley on my friends' faces on their request.
That's it for now about the Avalabetta hilltop. You can also take a look at my post about Nandi Hills, the first one in this series. Let me know about your views of this place if you've been there or if you're planning to visit, I hope you have a good time (beware of the monkeys around :D).
Until next time,
Stay sleepy!
