(#3) Taxi drivers in Bucharest for those who want to travel

in #travel7 years ago

We have indeed some interesting and fascinating shit around here, but from the airport to your hotel, you will have to use a taxi as I am sure you don't want to crush your brain trying to understand how the fuck the public transportation works around this city which is also shit.

Well, when you get off the plane, you will probably see a bunch of this motherfuckers trying to pick you up:

Well, I am sorry to tell you this but you will have to do extended research before even thinking about visiting out wonders, because at every corner there is a fucking asshole trying to profit from you just because you're a foreign and because he thinks you are rich as fuck.

Usually, the taxi fare if 1.39 lei/km in Bucharest, but since they have to have a licence in order to legally park at the airport, you will probably find fares around 3.2+ lei/km. The first thing you have to do is look if the taxi has their fares displayed (usually on the front passenger door). If it doesn't or it's unclear, stay away from it.

The first thing the taxi driver has to do is to start the meter counter. If he doesn't, point on the damn thing and keep your passenger door opened until he starts the counter. I don't think we have taxi drivers crazy enough to start while your door is opened, cause that can get them into a serious legal trouble.

While in the city, I strongly recommend using companies which have mobile apps (or Uber, even tho people throw shit at them because they are a company and they want to make a profit...wtf...) . Usually, dispatchers don't speak English so it's easier for you.

I don't want to transform this into some electronic book or some shit so I will leave a link in which the taxi problem is explained in detail along with the fares, marking, and all the small details you have to consider. I am doing this because I see a lot of people interested in travelling and because I fucking care for people who sustain this platform! Just bookmark that link to have it ready when you needed (if you plan to visit this... thing of a country).
