Melbourne White Night
Hey guys!!
This is my 2nd post of the day. I went to the Melbourne White Night event on Saturday 17th February 2018 (first day of CNY) with my GF's relatives. I attended this event on the same day I visited Queen Victoria Market in my previous post, link here.
I was promised spectacular works of art in the city which runs from 7 pm Saturday to 7 am Sunday. Unfortunately, I could not take many pictures or videos due to the crowds. There were so many people on the streets that it is difficult to even walk. Nevertheless, I had fun on this night :)
Check out the promo video below, it will give a general idea of what Melbourne White Night is.

All pictures and videos taken by me are with Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime. The videos by me are generally 14 seconds long, as I used Instagram video recording :) If you followed me on Instagram, chances are you would already have seen these videos :D
Well, firstly after my visit to Queen Victoria Market ended, I walked down along Degraves street just to explore around. What I found were a series of nice cafes and an old man dirty dancing :D Check it out!! I admire this man, perhaps I should aim to be as carefree as him when I'm old.
After a visit to Degraves Street, I went and sat at Federation Square (outside Flinders Street Station) while waiting to meet up with my GF's relatives. Upon reaching Federation Square, I was treated to 2 events unbeknownst to me :D It was Liquid in the Sky and Jingle Bells??? I not sure what the Jingle Bells event is called, but for simplicity, I shall call it Jingle Bells in this blog ;)
1. Liquid in the Sky
This event is technically thousands of rectangular plastic like papers suspended in mid-air, so as the wind blows, it gives an illusion of water waves. The video I took was not very accurate and may be confusing as I was sitting directly underneath it :D I should not have filmed it horizontally :(
2. Jingle Bells
Right beside Liquid in the Sky, there is a mini tower which consists of 5 ropes vertically hanging down. There are 5 people dressed in black who will pull each of these ropes every hour and produce a melody of electronic bell rings. Video below :)
After waiting a while, I've finally met up with my GF's relatives and we walked around CNY events around Crown Casino.
There are many events, and some I'm just too lazy to video :P
The first I saw was a mask changing performer. Look carefully at how quickly this performer changed her mask.
After we had some dinner, we proceeded to the State Library for a lighting performance. The city made a large image projection on the building and illuminates it with colourful motion picture.
I did not go inside the building as it was too crowded. Below are some pictures taken by professionals inside the State Library building :)
It was approaching 12 am and we decided to call it a night. While we were on the way to Flinders Street Railway Station, we bumped into a weird form of art. Well, it was weird to me as I did not understand the meaning behind it. Perhaps you can? :D
There was a signboard with an instruction that reads "Look up! Can you spot the world's most carefree plants? Two small metal cages contain Tillandsia (air plants), which can grow without any soil or irrigation. This installation, called Tillandsia SWARM, is the work of ecological artist, Lloyd Godman".
Well, I looked up and gazed upon this. Women's undergarments!!
I did not figure out what that means, as it was getting late and I'm tired :P While walking, we happen upon another gem, it was a veranda performance :D this dance made me redefine "sexy" on the spot. Sorry, I should not have taken the video with my phone tilted horizontally.
After this final spectacle, we headed home and called it a day. It was a day full of joy :D
Hope you guys enjoyed reading my blog :) I'm gonna sign off here.
Do give my other blog entries a read if interested:
Wow! Events and things like this are what makes it all worth while being away from home in a foreign land!
Great videos, thanks alot
