If you holidaying in Budapest and don't pay a visit to the Castle District, you are missing out on what is coomonly known as the best part of the city. It certainly was worth the effort.
The weather on that suuny autumn day was perfect for meandering around soaking up all of the magnificent architecture and culture that this neighbourhood had to offer. As we were in the shoulder tourist season, the crowds were a lot smaller, which made it much more pleasurable when exploring the area.
There was plenty buildings to admire, with majestic church spires, copper domed structures turning green with oxodisation, quaibt cobblestoned streets with beautifully maintained residences lining each side, cafes, restaurants and much more.
If you visit at the right time, you can see the chaniging of the guard at the Buda Palace. Unfortunately we missed out on that spectacle. There were lots of places sit, relax, enjoy a snack and watch the world go by for a few minutes before resuming the sightseeing.
Streets and pathways were heading in all directions, and every corner turned produced something new to view. If you made your way back to the edge of the Distrct , the views back over the Danube to the main city wre stunning.
It was a day well spent.
