Wat Sanpayangluang is a charming ancient temple with many charming carved stucco patterns.

Wat means temple

Pa means forest

Yang is a kind of tree

It’s because the temple is surrounded with many huge Yang trees, that’s why this temple is called “Wat Sanpayangluang”.

This temple is regarded as the first Buddhist temple of Northern Thailand.

The architecture of the Viharn, named “Phra Khiao Khong Viharn”, is marvelous with golden color. It has five tiers of roofs with gorgeous decorations.

There are four awesome giant sculptures of Nagas on both sides of the stairs of the Viharn and Zodiac statues in front of the Viharn as well.

The pillars, the walls, the ceiling of the Viharn both outside and inside are especially carved neatly and beautifully with golden color.

Wat Sanpayangluang is peaceful, quiet and pleasant among the forest.

You can come for dharma practice, get meditation and relax your mind as well.
