Garden of Unearthly Delights
Hi Steemers! The Adelaide Fringe Festival has been running, one way or another, since the sixties. In 2007, it became an annual event and now days, literally takes over the whole CBD from mid February to mid March... No wonder it's the largest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere!
Over 1200 events take place over this month and are staged all around Adelaide. Either in established venues like theatres or art galleries, or pop venues like warehouses or parks.
Possibly the biggest pop up event is The Garden of Unearthly Delights which resides in Rundle park for the entire month.
Here you will find a mix of music, dance, comedy, magic, circus, theater and cabaret shows.
These shows are either on pop up stages, tents, marquees, or done by roaming performers.
The garden also hosts plenty of food trucks, bar stands, market stalls and carnival rides.
Entry to the garden is free (if going on a Saturday, like we did, expect a long but fast moving line) but you can get express entry by having a ticket to any of the shows.
When inside there is plenty to see, do, eat and drink. Since this was our first time to the festival and it was a last minute decision, we hadn't pre booked any tickets. All good though, we found this drinks caravan and we were sorted!
Located in prime location right by the dance floor and the south end of the food vans...
... spent the night listening to cool tunes, sampling numerous food van offerings and drinking all the Bloody Mary's the wallet could afford 🤣
