Starting Route for The Dodge Mahal

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians!

We’re hard at work finishing up our renovations to the Dodge Mahal - we can’t wait to show you!! I’m excited to say we’re finally out of the gutting stage & we’re entering into the painting phase of our renovation. We’ll have a progress post up for you all very soon!

In the meantime, we thought we’d share our general route with you all! With your help, we hope we can find some cool, off the beaten path sights to see!

The Route

We’re open to adventure (I mean, c’mon - we’re living in a RV) so this map will change as we find cool Steemians to meet along the way! We'll keep updating the map as we go along.

We’d love to visit your meetups, or just YOU! We’ll be leaving our amazing Austin Steemit community behind and want to keep the spirit of building community alive along the way. Please let us know if you’re on, or near, our route! We definitely plan on hitting these major cities:

Major Cities

Las Vegas
Seatte
Portland
Sacramento
San Francisco

It's Open!

We’ll keep adding to this list, of course, but we’re also trying to keep our plans as open & flexible as possible. We hope to take it slow & spend most of the summer in the Northwest, and then make our way back down the coast when it starts to get cold. We’re basically following the good weather, which coming from the weather extremes of Texas makes everywhere on the west coast feel like “good” weather.

Steem Goals

One of our main goals while we’re on this adventure of a lifetime is to promote Steemit as much as we can along the way. Steemit is one of the main reasons that our dream of travelling the states in our RV was realized and we hope the Dodge Mahal will serve as “proof” of the power of Steemit to change lives.

Secondly, another main goal of ours is to connect with as many Steemians IRL along the way. Our first Steemit related stop will be the Steem Creators Conference in Las Vegas on April 13th-15th. Who's going?! @richardcrill will be sharing all about the Dodge Mahal & Steem Experience, and @lindseylambz will be teaching some yoga & will be on the women's panel with some other awesome ladies from Steemit (more to come about that!)

It's The Final Countdown!

We’re starting this journey on March 31st - the countdown begins! That’s only 9 MORE DAYS! We better get back to work on our reno so we can show you guys the big reveal before we leave. Let us know in the comments if you’re on our route, or have suggestions on sights to see along the way!

You can also find us hanging out on the Steem Experience Discord channel - come say hi!

Very cool! When you make it to Mendocino County California (2 hours north of SF) maybe we can buy you a beer ;) Good luck

Haha, nice! We can't wait to be in that area! Maybe we can buy yours! thanks!

We would love to help y'all in any way we can.
We have camped along the 101 for 4 years now and could possibly share some of our favorite (free/cheap) spots with you. Also if you're into cannabis we can tour a couple of farms and have you meet some locals. Keep us posted!

Oh what!?! That's Uh-Mazing! Uhm yeah, we should chat! We will be mostly boondocking so we will be looking for cool places! I have couple friends in the Sacramento area, but other than that we are just exploring! Thank you! We will definitely keep you posted!

Looking forward to meeting you two and learning more about the Dodge Mahal in Vegas!!! Good luck with your journey.

Thank you - we can't wait! Looking forward to learning some photography skills from you at the conference!

Awesome! I hope you can learn something new there...

Thank you @scottshots We already had our plan and then the Steem Creators Conference popped up on our route! We're sure it's going to be awesome. Looking forward to meeting you there in person!

Perfect stop along the way. It's going to be a blast! Cheers!

I love it. Congrats!!!!! Yay!!!!!! How exciting. Resteemed.

Thanks man! Can't wait to see you and everyone at the conference!

Very cool @thedodgemahal

Safe travels you two!

Keep STEEM N ON,
Frank

Thank you!

So exciting! I am really looking forward to meeting you guys in Vegas. 😊

Also, I live in Bellingham, WA - which is a couple hours north of Seattle. Maybe we can figure something out when you guys are up this way!

Heck yeah! That would be amazing if we could meet up again In WA! I’ve actually never been there, but it’s the state I’m most excited to visit! Can’t wait to meet you in Las Vegas! 💕

It is so beautiful here in the Pacific Northwest. You are going to love it. Well... I should say the summers are amazing. It looks a monsoon outside my window right now... which is just a normal spring day. 😋

Eeeeek I can’t wait! It’s bittersweet leaving this perfect spring weather in Austin, but glad to be leaving before the Texas summer hits. It’s hellacious. Looking forward to a summer in the PNW!

Yea guys congrats on the trip and all. I would love to connect as you pass by my area near the Sequoias I could give you a tour of the big trees amd show you some of our Favorite spots and maybe set you up for an over night stay in a cool campground.

Let me know what you think and possibly a time frame and we will make it happen.

Enjoy your wondeful trip and spread the love and vibes everywhere.

be well

Ill dm you info if your interested.

Thank you @krazypoet! One of the main reasons I want to go that route is to spend some time in those trees! Yeah, please dm me!

Right we will work something out then while your here.

Cool guys! Just a suggestion, from vegas you could head up the back way towards inyo lake and take a ride through the sequoias national park, see the valley of giants, maybe even zig-zag a bit to Kings canyon and it'll spit you back out down on the 5 ready to head north or to the beach whatevs. I always press people to visit them.. so special and magical place!! 💖

Thanks for the awesome suggestion! That may be exactly what we do! There is so much to check out, we will probably come back down the coast in the fall too to check out more places in the area. Then we will probably head further South or East.

Excited to follow your journey guys, yeah we car camped/boondocked up and down the 101 and dipping over the mountains and back again for about a year.. so many good memories. Specially Sequoia and Shasta with cheeba chews and lots of hiking! Have fun and looking forward to happy doggy pics! :)

Are you more excited to follow these guys than you are to steal people's money and shill worthless shitcoins? Which would you rather spend your time doing?

Be careful listening to @KeniStyles, he's a known scammer and nefarious person. Steals unsuspecting people's money and constantly shills worthless products and cryptocurrencies to enrich himself. Be careful listening to anything this guy says or sharing any personal info with him.

So exciting! I think what you are doing is great. Have an awesome time.

F.Y.I. - Washington State is just a horrible place to spend the summer. If you come during that time, you will fall into the illusion that it is paradise, that the sun always shines and it never rains! :)

While it is true, one shouldn't travel here during the summer as they will be tempted to move here, in all seriousness, I look forward to reading about your travels and perhaps get an opportunity to meet you both when in Seattle.

Warmest Regards,

Wes

This made me LOL - I can’t wait to visit WA in the horrible summer 😜 I’ll heed your advice about the temporary paradise. Awesome that you’re in Seattle! We’d love to meet up! We’ll keep ya posted!
