Travel Blog #002 : Beach Day in Sumilon Island
Sumilon Island is located in the province of Cebu. Also known as one of the major tourist spots in the province and one of the best sandbars here in the Philippines. With its clear blue water and white sand, Sumilon Island’s sandbar is by far photogenic and mesmerizing tropical that will surely captivate all types of travelers.
The island is privately owned by Bluewater Resorts. Day tour rate is Php 1,500 ($30) on weekdays and Php 2,000 ($40) on weekends and holidays. Day tour package includes entrance fee, buffet lunch, roundtrip boat transfers, island activities (Kayaking, Snorkeling Gear, Island Trekking and Fish Feeding), and use of resort facilities. For day tours, they are open only until 5PM.
If day tour package sounds pricey there is another option for thrifty travelers to lessen the cost. You can hire or rent a boat and proceed directly to the public area where you can access the sandbar island. Since it’s first time for us to visit Cebu, me and my friends decided to booked the day tour package. We wanted to explore not only the sandbar but the whole Sumilon Island
Buffet by the beach.....
Sandbar.....
Infinity Pool....
Overall we had a wonderful stay in the resort, we got a good set of buffet meals, unlimited use of infinity pool, free use of snorkeling gear and also they have their own lagoon for Kayaking activity. The tour was peaceful, stress free and all the staff are very polite and helpful.
Lovely photos and stunning beach. Wow philippines!
The thing about Sumilon, the sandbar is always open for the tours that is not part of the island. I mean, i agree that it should be shared especially for locals, it should be free even. But most tour guides offers their own services for a price not differs to much to what the resort offers. I agree that we should promote local tourism, but the tourists miss out what the Sumilon resort can offer. The sandbar of course is the highlight of the island, but one can trek, swim, kayak and even re-create in the white sands of the sumilon island. They've promised hefty buffet that tastes good and comes with an amazing view. I hope the island can offer some sort of employment to the locals, so they don't have to deprive the tourists of what they are missing out.
Dame sinabe hahahaha
