Society Of Petroleum Engineers National Student Contest.

My Story

As the President in the department of petroleum engineering University of Uyo student Chapter, i was opportune to join the contestants and students of the department for a student conference & exhibition where an annual quiz competition is always held called the PETROQUIZ.

The journey was a successful one & i love travelling especially long distance journey. It wasn't an easy one for me as i continuously felt some discomfort in my upper abdomen.
We were heading to the Turkish Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja. And it is approximately a 16 hours journey from my state by bus, and about 45 minutes journey by flight.
20 students embarked on this journey by bus because as students still hustling in the federal university we were unable to use flight.

THE CONTEST

As defending champions of petroquiz competition that held at my school, university of Uyo, Nigeria. We were the floor openers for the round 3 of the contest. It wasn't an easy encounter as everything seemed different on stage.

We were so tensed, we prayed, we encouraged our contestants to read more, they had many promises from individuals and companies if they finally got to win again as last year.

As the president of the defending champion school, University of Uyo. I gave a short speech to motivate the contestants & charge them up to do better than last year.

THE WINNING

We almost lost hope as University of Benin(uniben) openly announced themselves as our rivals, but gained back our hope as they were defeated by FUTO.

University of Uyo Contestants competed for the trophy with FUTO.
During the final round of the contest, a question from current affairs section was asked and a funny reply from the University of Uyo contestants was given. The moderator asked "who is the Prime Minister of Egypt" and due to the fact that university of Uyo contestants could not answer any question from the current affairs section, @uwemedimo decided to give an answer and he muttered "Pharaoh".
The judges and the moderator could not contain with the laughter as they called us Uyo.com
It was the fun part of the contest and it leased some tension in the hall as students from other schools started calling us Uyo.com

University of Uyo won again...twice in a roll. It was indeed a great victory .and the joy in our hearts was filled.
