Travellingartist.Don @Sidi Bou Said
This is The City of Thousand Doors.
Perched on top of a steep cliff overlooking the Bay of Tunis and the Mediterranean.. is this prettiest village in the whole Tunisia..the gorgeous Sidi Bou Said!
It's a reminiscent of the Greek Islands like Santorini or Mykonos.
Baron Rodolph d’Erlanger, the French Artist, built an Anglo-Oriental mansion in this village, which is still here today, now a museum. The Baron convinced the mayor to mandate that every house in Sidi Bou Said to be painted in only white and blue. Soon the village became a mecca for Writers and Artists.
The town is clean aflame with bougainvilleas. The architectural design is a combination of Arab and Andalusian styles.
I immersed myself meandering the narrow cobbled stone-paved roads and arches that filled this beautiful village.
Stay tune for my next posting with Richard Nixon and Simone de Beauvoir :) enjoying our hot mint tea at the famous Cafe des Nattes.
Till then..Cheers!
