Teaching you Video from beyond the classroom (Pan & Tilt Tip)
One thing that is very important to us is teaching people in an entertaining and informative way. This means we go out into the world and make videos ourselves. Then while we out there we look at what the most important lessons become obvious in this environment. Let me give you an example.
When it comes to a simple lesson like Pan & Tilt most people just explain what a pan & tilt is from a class room and then give you an example. We went out to a scenic place called the Cape of Good Hope just south of Cape Town to give you exactly this and a little more. Here is the tip:
So many people pan and tilt all over the show. Try and keep it slow and controlled and only cover 60 to 90 degrees. If you are covering 180 or more you are giving the viewer too much and not leaving anything for them to imagine or get excited about. Think of your travelvids as short windows into your experience, not a documentary of the whole place.
