My story and Adventures of Art for Advocacy event in Ohrid Macedonia
Sometimes an opportunity presents itself for you to go on a adventure.I have partaken in one a couple of days ago when i was lucky invited to an Art workshop in Ohrid Macedonia, one of the most beautiful places in the world.
The journey with a bus required some patience and endurance but i have made it there early in the morning,i ve been tired from the trip so i made my way to the hotel. There was the first day of workshop and a chance to meet the workshop participants and lecturers as well.
We had lots of coffee breaks and i made my first sketch there:
I played alot of MGS so i was inspired to make some of the Big Boss artwork
We would soon learn what were our assignments on the workshops, would mingle and exchange ideas.
The first day was a relaxing day and we only did our opening into the workshop.
I would make lots of friends all over the Balkans, and we would usually make some silly jokes or play pantomime during our free hours.
Learning a lot how you can use art and what art is about we would discuss some of the philosophical ideas to modalities of viewing art.
Art is truly a great tool in for advocating your ideas,in activist sense it can be great to promote ideas to improve the society.
Thus the banner of the workshop:
We had different lecturers present their standing and they activist ideas that they are promoting. They were so rich in information that we never knew that there were so many political battlegrounds of ideas in our society.
There was a huge problem in Macedonia with Academia and comic books. The Academia in Macedonia and probably all over Balkans doesn't recognize comics as an official art media.Thats why we and our friend Bosko were discussing the subject of comics it genres and subjects they are tackling.
The weather served me well while i was on the workshop,it seemed like it would remain so for the entirety of being there.
So i took the time to explore Ohrid, maybe find some hidden treasures.
Low and behold
I found this 7th century church that had some interesting frescoes all over it.
and some more...
While i was there i took my time to watch the impecable view of Ohrid, nothing similar have i experienced then watching that view for 20 minutes,it was like i was resting my soul.
i had taken a couple of photos, but the beauty of being there i couldn't seem to capture with a camera.
It was so hot at that time, that i ve decided to get back to the hotel and join my companions on the workshop lecture.
I was inspired with the lecutre, and since i was a fan of V for Vendetta,i had to make one piece while listening to lecturers.
I ve made some gifting drawing and gave them away, since i enjoy that the most.
And received this lovely artwork from and amazing artist Igor Jovchevski
We also had a sticker workshop so me and my friends made some of those too
and some more
aaaaand with theese pieces i would like to conclude my post to the first part since the final work hasnt yet been published i will save that for the continuation of next post to inspire more people to use art for advocating new ideas and improve our society.
Cheers :)
