Scarlet Sails - The celebration of the fulfillment of dreams [Russia, St. Petersburg]
Hello friends!
Today I will tell you about the amazing and beautiful celebration, which is dedicated to the end of the school. It was this night, from 23 to 24 June. The celebration takes place in my native St. Petersburg. The celebration is one of the world's largest water shows held on open water. Many residents, tourists and visitors come to see this show
Scarlet Sails- the celebration of school graduates. The celebration is called Scarlet Sails like the title of the story of the Soviet writer Alexander Greene "Scarlet Sails ". This name symbolizes the heroine's dream come true. The heroine Assol had a dream of a Prince who will sail to her ship with scarlet sails. At the end of the story Assol goes for a walk and sees a beautiful ship with scarlet sails. The girl runs to the sea and meets Gray, the prince of her life.
All St. Petersburg schoolchildren who finished school this year receive tickets for the celebration. These are tickets for passage to the main square of the city - Palace Square. Here is a gala concert.
The first celebration of the graduates took place in 1968. This lasted until 1979. Then the celebration was canceled.
The revival of the celebration was in 2005. His format was transformed into a spectacular multimedia show. The date of the "Scarlet Sails" is as close as possible to the longest white night of the year. The government of St. Petersburg and the sponsor-bank "Russia" are financing this celebration.
We have a good joke. To the question "What is the best place to watch the Scarlet Sails celebration?" There is an answer "At home, on TV" :) Of course, I believe that in live it looks amazing. And I'm really waiting for my daughter to finish school and we'll get tickets for the show. We will be at the heart of the show. But while I'm watching live broadcast on TV.
The show has several points where performances take place. It's impossible to see everything except on TV. Live broadcast shows the most favorable perspectives, the view of the city from above. I made some quick shots of live broadcast for you. It is impossible to see the entire celebration. It's too outgoing. In one place fireworks, in another place bridges, in the third place the performance of artists.
This year, from 50 to 80 thousand people from 31 regions of Russia and six foreign countries visited the celebration. This year, football fans also watched this celebration.
According to tradition, the celebration consists of two parts. The first is a concert on Palace Square, which lasts about two and a half hours. The entrance to the Palace Square is only by invitation.
Gala concert consisted of performances by popular Russian singers and bands. Last year's performance was different. This year there were many youth groups and singers. I did not know these groups. My daughter listens to modern music. It was familiar to her. The gala concert was about two hours long.
This photo shows the Hermitage and many hands with flashlights in their hands.
Then all attention was transferred to the water area of the Neva River. Here is the second part of the celebration.
All other people take places on the embankments of the city to see the culmination of the show - fireworks and the passage of the ship with scarlet sails.
The grandiose fireworks began.
Simultaneously with the fireworks, theatrical performances of the artists began.
More fireworks
The bridge was raised so that the ship with the Scarlet Sails could pass under it. Bridges are bred in the summer every night, not only for this celebration. Bridges are raised every summer night in St. Petersburg. This is the time of navigation. A lot of ships must pass along the Neva River. Classical music is played at this time.
In the distance, a ship appeared with scarlet sails.
Since 2010, the Swedish sailing ship "Tre Kronor Stockholm" performs as a "dream ship". Since the time of Peter the Great, this is the first Swedish ship that entered the inner waters of St. Petersburg. The ship is an exact copy of the brig "Gladan", which participated in the expeditions of the explorer of the North Adolf Eric Nordenskiold to the shores of Greenland and Spitsbergen.
"Tre Kronor Stockholm" is built of three types of wood - oak, pine and larch. Its full displacement is 330 tons. The ship has 16 sails with a total area of 735 square meters.
"Tre Kronor Stockholm" regularly participates in ecological expeditions and supports international cooperation. It is even called the "sailing ship of the world".
This is a terrific sight! Everyone wants to photograph this fabulous ship.
A ship with scarlet sails passes by the embankment to Vasilievsky Island. Turns and goes back.
The celebration was over.
Despite the fact that, first of all, the celebration is dedicated to graduates, everyone should see this miracle realized in reality.
This celebration is a symbol of hope for the fulfillment of the most cherished dream.
Cheers
