The Great Balloon Safari - Maasai Mara

in #travel7 years ago

Up Above the World So High Like a diamond in the sky! We contemplated for atleast 6 days if we should go for the hot air balloon or not. Its not cheap as someone would imagine. It was around 230$ per person and we were 5 of us. They were including a champagne breakfast in the middle of the forest. Almost an hour of the safari time.

I was not in Favour. We had to get up at 4 for it.
Mom was in Favour. Experience!
Dad was not in Favour. EXPENSIVE!
Sumit (hubby) was neutral. He had already done it in Australia.
My sister was in Favour. She likes everything thats expensive!

But this was The Great Masai Mara and what binds my family is the love for wildlife. It was not the migration time but we had had darn good Game Drives the three days we had been there. So we decided to do it and what we experienced was nothing short of feeling like a bird and gliding over the beautiful and majestic animals of the park.

If somebody asks me the best trip i have taken in my life - Kenya would be the No. 1. The ride was exciting at first when the balloon was being inflated, then peaceful and beautiful as we glided over the trees and streams and migrating animals. We went in December so it was not the "Great migration time" but nevertheless it was a great experience.

And what we saw was ....
