A few places to watch MUAY THAI FOR FREE in Bangkok!

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

A few weeks ago, we went to one of the most popular shopping malls here in Bangkok 'MBK Center'. We went there basically just to look for some electronic stuffs and maybe some clothes. Those are the main thing they sell there at the place. Though, once we got there, first thing we saw just right at once of the entrances is a boxing ring! Seemed like it's happening!! and yes, it did happen that night! How aweeeesome and how lucky!

Muay Thai or Thai Boxing

That's one of the Thai boxing fights we watched that night. It was actually my first time watching the sport and oh my, wasn't it fun and painful! Oh! for those who don't know about Muay Thai just yet.. Like, really??

Muay Thai or Thai Boxing is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs" as it is characterised by the combined use of fists, elbows, and shins.

Believe it or not, I have been told that something like that Muay Thai we have just watched.. Anywhere else would cost you like 500-2000THB ($17-70) but here, the MBK Bangkok fight we're costed none! It's free!

I know! It doesn't sound so much for some of you but think about it, here in Thailand, the minimum salary basically just 15,000THB ($500) for those with the bachelor degree even! So, this is a super deal!

I feel like it's a good one also (I have some memories about these fights since I was a kid - My grandpa watched it on a television every weekend) There're a lot of people, authentic Thai opening music and the way they pay respect to the teachers of this type of art at the beginning of the show.

To be honest, I feel like it's painful especially when that Thai guy couldn't really stand no more. I literally almost cried but at the same time, it's such a charming type of art! I loved it!

Got back home. Did a bit of research for more. Like, really! I would watch it again and would totally go for some freebies once more ! Not that surprising, not a lot of the free ones but there are some out there so..

MBK Bangkok fight night

Yes, this one we have been talking about. It's every Wednesday from 6-9pm. at MBK Center! It will be just ideal for those who loves shopping as there're 10 malls around or something and the area is totally one of the must-visits in Bangkok!

Address : 444 Phayathai Rd, Khwaeng Wang Mai, Khet Pathum Wan, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10330

Channel 7 Boxing Stadium

This could totally be an interesting one as it's actually held by one of the popular TV channels here in Thailand. Can you guess which channel is that? 'Channel 7' :D and they broadcast the fights live every Sunday from 2-5pm. One big plus is it going to be the same area and same day that Chatuchak Market, the world's largest weekend market is open so 2 birds 1 stone. Aweeeesome!

Seriously!! If you're already in Thailand or in Bangkok, make your way to either one of them. It will be such a cool experience! Even like a Thai one like me who's been watching this on the TV (just a bit with my grandpa..), I found it so much different watching it live with my own eyes! It's so awesome and never like anything you have seen. Check Muay Thai / Thai boxing out when you're in Bangkok, Thailand! :)

I went to the Channel 7 boxing stadium in 2016, it was interesting to watch the fight. I remember that I had to buy black t-shirt to enter because the king had just passed!

Oh!!! you have! That's cool. I have actually never been to that one but I will soon. Also, I found an interesting one near Khao San Road but there's not even a place on google map :/
