Travels in the footsteps of Greek gods!

in #travel7 years ago

Hello Steemits! 🐼 Today Greece! One of my first adventures! But this is just about gods!

Greece is associated by many with ancient times when, according to the Greeks, the world was ruled by divine forces. This country, which is celebrated in thousands of stories and myths about Zeus, Athens, Artemis and Dionysos, cannot be sightseeing in the footsteps of the Greek gods. Especially since the climate of these ancient times still awaits this country and the gods have not yet said their last word and are still inhabited by the mythical Olympics.

Visit to Olympic Games

In the pursuit of God's power, one cannot ignore the National Park National Mount Olympus. It was from this place that the gods, and in particular Zeus, led the human fate and took care of the entire ancient Greece. No man had access to this land, and the first to have done so in 1913 were Daniel Baud Bovy, Frédéric Boissonas and Christos Kakalos. These three heroes captured the highest peak of the Mitikas Olympus mountains. In addition to its legendary history, the park can also be proud of its rich bird fauna and unique flora, rich in 17 thousand plant species. The combination of nature and divine power makes the character of this place unlike anything else.

Famous for mythology Olympic Mountain

In the vicinity of the Olympus it is worth visiting some interesting but less known places. The village known as Tempi Valley is an unusual place where you can feel a bit of terror and fear when you know its dark past. According to legend, the ravine's bottom was formed by a quarrel between Zeus and Poseidon. During the trip, it is also advisable to visit the beautiful town of Trikala. You will find here ruins from Greek, Hellenistic and Roman times. Of course, if you want to get even closer to the goddess of Athens, you have to go to the city of Larisa. The goddesses of wisdom, art and righteous war watch over the city in her ancient temple.

Visit at an oracle

In pursuit of God's power, it is therefore impossible to miss the city of Delpha. It was from that place that the oracle predicted the future not only of Greece, but also of other countries that asked for help. It was in archaic times that Delf's significance grew to such a great extent.

Delves

The town is located on a mountain slope, which additionally makes the views from that place incredibly beautiful. The beautiful Apollin temple used to be located here. Today, however, there are only ruins left, but white marble and limestone are still enjoying the eyes of tourists.

The character of this town is also due to the narrow streets, which are filled with climatic bars and cafes. But that is not all! Not only adventurers can enjoy the experience of this place. If we love winter madness, the slopes of the Parnas mountains will be a great place to practice sport and at the same time get to know the culture and history of ancient Greece.

Acropolis - the cradle of ancient culture

Above Athens there is a small hill of the Acropolis, which owes its fame to the temples. The most famous of them is Parthenon, which was the place of worship of the goddess Athens, the patron saint of the city. Today you can admire the remains of this beautiful building, but by giving a vent to our imagination, we will surely move into distant divine times. Next to the Parthenon, another famous temple is Erechtejon. The place honours not only Athens, but also Poseidon. Apteros is an extremely intimate place, a temple that owes its charm to simplicity. It was erected on a part of Athens Nike, but its original statue burned down and a new one was built in its place. Another important place on the hill is the Sanctuary Artemidy Brauronia. We do not know too much about it, only that in the past there was a huge Trojan horse here. And finally Propyleje, that is the pride of the Athenians and not only where the greatest artists of ancient times left their traces.

Partenon in Greece

The heroes of the homeland come from Myken, and this is the place that should be on the list of those worth seeing on a journey through ancient Greece. The old Myken region is covered by the Gate of Lviv, which has been defending the city's borders for centuries. The walls of Myken are high and in antiquity it was believed that overcoming them is only possible with the help of cyclopia forces. What we cannot yet escape our attention is Agamemnon's grave, also known as the Atreus Treasure. It was the largest dome building until the second century, because it was then that the Pantheon was built in Rome. In fact, it is not entirely clear who was buried in this place, but most of them suppose that it was the famous Agamemnon. Like Greece as a whole, Mykenas also have many secrets and it is impossible to discover them all. But that is what is beautiful, and that makes this country so unique.
