Welcome to: El Durazno! - A corner of the Cordovan mountain ranges
Hello friends! how's it going? Today we come to tell you about another of our trips to the interior of the Province of Córdoba, Argentina.
On this occasion, we will describe El Durazno. It is a town in the Calamuchita Department, located 7 km from Villa Yacanto, 36 km from Santa Rosa de Calamuchita and 130 km from Córdoba Capital.
We could say that it is a corner of the province, a village at the foot of the Sierras de los Comechingones, crossed by a river of crystal clear water, which for the moment no collective arrives. It can be difficult to get there without a vehicle of your own, but it is not impossible!
In our case, we had to take a bus from the city of Córdoba to Santa Rosa, and there take another one towards Villa Yacanto.
Before arriving, there is a gravel road that opens to the side of the road and goes towards El Durazno. It is precisely at this point, where we get off. When descending we were, once again, before a long stretch that we had to walk walking.
Kevin could not stand the sun anymore and tried to cover his head with what little he had, at the end of the day he was with his neck insolated! Note: remember to always carry a hat with you!
Motivated by the expectations of knowing such a beautiful place, we started the walk then. It did not take long to appear a truck that without hesitation, we did finger. Although it was a simple cabin van and the box was loaded with logs, they stopped the vehicle and offered to go between the logs. Obvious that we accept !!! And so doing a little balance, not to fall neither us nor our backpacks, was that they took us to the entrance of the town.
We walked a few blocks to the campsite, and we started to build our tent to spend a few days there.
Once settled, we went to tour it. There are many paths, surrounded by tall trees, which filter the rays of the sun between their leaves.
The river is very clear, and in its route allows to find pots of great depth, small sandy beaches. The water is also very cold, and in addition to the fact that we had the most fresh days, touching it numbed our fingers or feet.
In addition to drinking mates on the riverbank and walking among the wild landscape, as it is a growing tourist town, it now has many cabins, each time more, and even a modest hotel, a tea house (which It has a very nice story and delicious snacks), a small bar where there are usually local shows (we saw a very funny play, enjoying a few beers).
Here are our mates on the river bank: D
We enjoy the trails and the rivers.
Daniela's tea house! a very picturesque place indeed.
Things that one finds in Daniela's tea house, irresistible homemade sweetnesses! (very succulent not ?? XD)
Despite the difficulty of the access road to El Durazno, one of the days we ventured out and hitchhiking with the hope that another vehicle that brings us closer to the town of Villa Yacanto to buy meat and make us a good roast.
Regarding this, let's clarify two things about it:
1- Having few supplies in El Durazno, the prices they handle are quite high. And for us who went collectively and to finger, take us forecasts of merchandise was going to mean a lot of weight. We agreed to buy food in these places that usually do not cost as much, as rice, vegetables, etc.
2- Having said that, you will have imagined that our diet was based on stews, soups and rice salads, among others. Therefore, although there is nothing like a warm stew on the cool nights of the mountains of Cordoba, the craving of a barbecue was well justified!
We made a stew of pork and beef, carrots, rice, lentils, onions. After a long day of walking this replenishes 100% of the energies. Enjoying it outdoors in the evening of camping is priceless. Here is a picture in full cooking!
We had luck!! They took us for the second time to the exit of the town and we had time to go back to Villa Yacanto. We had an ice cream while walking along the main street, we knew the square and we learned that just that weekend there was a great annual marathon organized in Yacanto.
Then we found a supermarket and went back to the Durazno with what was necessary for the grill. The problem was that we had to face the path on foot again to the Durazno with the piggyback and roast to do. Luckily, a couple of runners of the Yacanto marathon had their whereabouts in the Durazno and we were thrown to the campsite. Lucky! everything was ready for the barbecue!
ATTENTION: that day Dani's parents arrived and they shared the barbecue with us, that's why you see more food on the grill. We were already staying like a hungry XD
For our part what we mainly take advantage of these trips, is to be able to leave the walls of our apartments in the city, and change them in places where when you open your eyes you can see mountains, river, breathe fresh air. We enjoy the contact of bare feet on the grass, hair entangled by the wind, the feeling of facing the sun, and discover how young we are in the vastness of nature
As always, we hope that our experiences will serve the whole community, in case some day some of you are near the places we visit, in this way you can see, through us, a travel alternative and attractions of each place
We hope to have transmitted something of what this trip left us, because thanks to this community you also travel through us!
Soon we will be uploading more trips in the interior of Argentina. Until next time!
Kevin and Dani
