My first Journey
Curiosity is something that grows with the knowledge. Maldives, where I was born and have been living my beautiful memories since childhood. Maldives is definitely blessed with white Sandy Beaches and Crystal clear water with the most amazing honeymoon resorts in the world. However, we don't have the waterfall rivers, tall buildings nor the mountains other countries have.....
So I decided to start my first ever journey abroad to explore the world with my husband picking Hong Kong as the first destination. We booked a room in shim Sha tshui kawloon as that place seemed famous among tourist visitors in the feed backs because of the near by shops and good restaurants.
t was our first time traveling abroad, for me and my husband as well. So as expected, we were quite lost at first, but I would say wow to their modern system and services. We started walking a bit further and there came a lady who offered us guidance where to go next.
We had both good and bad experiences though. While we were trying to figure out our transportation to our hotel, a middle aged man came and offered us a ride by his taxi. We were not sure though . But he kept on forcing us to take the ride. He even took our bags and told us to follow him to his car. We were asking him questions about the price and all. But this man was weird enough to avoid our questions and he kept on critisizing the bus system when we asked about the price. So finally, my husband got so annoyed that he grabbed the bag and asked him the cost of the ride and he said it would be around 800 Hong Kong dollars. And that sounded very expensive for us and we didn't want to rush in to anything as we were new. He kept on insisting as we denied to take the ride. It went on for at least 15 minutes. We somehow got rid of him and we decided to take the bus even if it would take long hours as we would get to see a good view of Hong Kong. And guess what it was just 33 HKD each for the bus. And we enjoyed the mesmerising view and felt much safe in the bus. So I would recommend anyone travelling to Hong Kong to be safe from the taxi drivers at arrival. After reaching our hotel in shim Sha tshui went to get something to eat as we were so hungry after the long ride. The prices were not cheap as we expected. It was quite expensive. Luckily we were able to get indian foods nearby, also MacDonald and KFC was just five minutes distance from the hotel we stayed.
As it was a 5 days trip we were running out of time to visit the places we planned. So the first day we went to Hong Kong Central park and enjoyed the near by places and shops. The second day we took a bus to mongkok city and we felt it was better for shopping compared to shim Sha tshui. If you are looking for cheaper price then I would recommend ladies market for souvenirs .
The third day we took a big bus tour ride to the Hong Kong island. We enjoyed the beautiful view on the ride around Hong Kong island. I can't explain how memorable those moments were. It's was beyond anything else. The best of all was the peak tram. The view of hongkong kawloon and honkong island skyline from peak tram was so beautiful that we didn't even feel like leaving the place. We took pictures of every moment. The moments we had there is worth cherishing forever.
