Basic information about Mexico
Official name: United Mexican states.
Official language: Spanish and has more than 66 Amerindian languages.
Currency: Mexican Peso.
Territory: Mexico covers a territorial extension of 1,964,375 km2, of which 1,959,248 km2 are continental surface and 5.127 km2 are insular surface. To this territory must be added the exclusive economic zone of territorial sea, which covers 3,149,920 km2, so the total area of the country is of 5,114,295 km2.

The capital of Mexico is the Federal District (Mexico City), where the powers of the Union (executive, legislative and judicial) are headquartered. The political division of Mexico consists of 32 federal entities: Aguascalientes, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Campeche, Coahuila, Colima, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Durango, Distrito Federal, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosi, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatan, and Zacatecas.

Borders: The Mexican Republic has borders with: United States of America, Guatemala and Belize along a total of 4.301 kilometers distributed as follows:
-With the United States of America, a border line is stretched along 3.152 km from monument 258 northwest of Tijuana to the mouth of the Rio Bravo in the Gulf of Mexico. They are states bordering the north of the country: Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.
-With Guatemala the border has an extension of 956 km, being neighboring states: Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche and Quintana Roo.
-With Belize the land border is 193 km and the maritime boundary is 85.266 km, the Bay of Chetumal. The border state with Belize is Quintana Roo.

Population: Mexico has a population of more than 115 million inhabitants.
