The palace was under construction between 1752-1845. It has 5 floors, 1,200 rooms, 1 742 windows, a large library, and a theatre. There was a plan to build a monumental avenue that would run 20 kilometers between the palace and Naples. Unfortunatelly the plan was never realized.
The building covers an area of about 47,000 m², has 1 026 fumaroles and 34 stairs.
The palace, defined as the last great achievement of the Italian Baroque.
The park of the palace stretches for 3 kilometers in length, with development south-north, on 120 hectares of surface. At the center of the rear façade of the palace two long parallel avenues branch off between which there are a series of suggestive fountains.
