Hello everybody, my husband @frankhappa and I were living in Thailand for a long period as expat. As we only could apply for a 3 months tourist visa, we needed to plan regular trips (visa runs) out of the country to apply for a new visa, 4 times a year. Sometimes these visa runs were a pain in the liver but the idea to travel and see new places, made it less painful. This time it was our turn to travel to one of my favorite cities HANOI in Vietnam.

It is the cultural capital of Vietnam, the country's second largest city by population and one of the country's top tourist hot spot.

Hoan Kiem Lake, one of the major scenic spots in the city and serves as a focal point for its public life.

Large areas of present-day Hanoi were built during the French occupation, reflected in its broad boulevards and French-inspired architecture, which give the city a definite charm. A great place to explore on foot

Temple of the Jade Mountain (Ngoc Son Temple)

Ngoc Son Temple, reconstructed in the 19th century on an islet at the North end of the lake Hoan Kiem. It is the most visited temple in the center. Connected to the lake shore by an elegant scarlet bridge, constructed in classical Vietnamese style. The temple is dedicated to General Tran Hung Dao (who defeated the Mongols in the 13th century), La To (patron saint of physicians).

On the way to Ngoc Son Temple

Cathédrale Saint-Joseph situated west of Hoàn Kiem Lake, in a small lively square within the Old Quarter, Centrally located at the end of the Nha Tho (Church) Street and the corner of Pho Nha Chung. Construction began in 1886, with the architectural style, resembling the Notre Dame in Paris. The church was one of the first structures built by the French colonial government in Indochina when it opened in December 1886. It is the oldest church in Hanoi.

Many cyclo drivers still frequent the Old Quarter, and if you’re only going a short distance, it’s a great way to experience the city

Remember if one of you have the opportunity to visit this gorgeous city do not think twice. Go for it.

This is all for today, if you enjoyed the journey to Hanoi with me, keep updated for next time to go to HO CHI MINH (Saigon) Vietnam.
