One Hundred Islands National Park

I don’t know how to swim very well but that hasn’t stopped me from doing excursions involving water.

Thank you, @psos for creating a challenge to travel memory lane during lockdown. For my fourth and final share of my Philippines visit, here’s my encouragement for those who have some fright over water but want to dip their toe in the water. Do it. If it makes you feel safer to go out in the water with a life jacket, rock it. You will safely float. Don’t be that nervous jerk that insists on holding onto someone almost drowning them thinking they can be your personal raft. Also trust that no one wants anyone to die on their watch. It’s not good for business.

As you can see, NO LIFE JACKETS on this boat ride. I had to trust the folks that gave us the tour around the islands and enjoy my cousins. There were at least two non swimmers in the boat; my mom and I.

There was lots a gorgeous hiking once we shored up. People can visit One Hundred Islands for either a day trip or an overnight trip. My family enjoyed a short but memorable visit.

I loved being a passenger and felt safe zipping around with my cousin. The most important thing to do as a non swimmer in the water is to always remain calm and enjoy how absolutely gorgeous it is to be outside enjoying the water. You may never graduate to getting certified as a scuba diver but you can enjoy a jet ski ride with someone or brave it and drive it yourself. Hold on and remember to laugh and be thrilled.

Parasailing in Subic Bay

Here’s a water excursion that puts you in the air. Parasailing. It’s not like skydiving. Very tame. You are a kite in the air! The adrenaline rush is moderate and the view above is fun. We all got life jackets to parasail.

Here is my happy cousin being a kite!

I hope to visit the Philippines again. As I do this stay home and share travel photos challenge, I think of my family and friends abroad as they experience their lockdowns. Some are enjoying less freedoms while others enjoy more in different places. Stay safe everyone and hopefully soon we can enjoy a world where we can laugh and play together free from worry.

If you’ve been afraid of water, maybe you will overcome it as you pursue a water excursion when you travel again. The beauty and fun is worth it.
