Kawasan Falls is the most famous falls in The Philippines

Kawasan Falls is one of the Philippines most famous waterfalls, and also one of the most famous in the world. Kawasan Falls is known to be a tropical oasis with big bamboo rafts that can take you around the turquoise natural pool, and under the waterfall.
Located just 5km from Alegria Dive Resort in Sta. Filomena Alegria, we start our adventure from there.

Kawasan Falls is a three-layered waterfall, one of the popular tourist destinations in the southern province of Cebu. Canyoning tours are also offered upstream of the Kawasan Falls, where the Matutinao river flows through a secluded canyon. The water is fresh and crystal clear and refreshing, an ideal paradise to anyone who loves and wants to get intimate with nature.

Just 130 kilometres southwest of Cebu City and about three hours of a bus ride, the Kawasan Falls is situated inside the mountains of Barangay Matutinao, Badian. A 3rd municipal income class municipality in the Southern province of Cebu, Philippines.

From the entrance, you will have to walk uphill for about 1.5 kilometres (15-20 minutes) depending on your pacing. After following the trail for about 10 minutes, you will arrive at the first waterfall.

The Sangre – My travel buddies. Tier 1 of Kawasan Falls is the largest of the three and usually the most crowded one. All three levels are visitor-friendly swimming areas. You can settle at the first falls or climb up a few more minutes to the second. Both possess the natural pristine beauty of renowned falls. We rented a table for 300PHP and settled our things here. For those who are more adventurous, one could also embark on a bamboo raft and go for a ride under the waterfall and at the same time receive a tremendous neck massage by the pouring water. Foods and drinks are also available in the area but its kinda expensive, bringing your own food is indeed more practical especially if you're on a tight budget.

30 minutes after we had our photo session at the 1st tier of the falls. Chris, Ar and I decided to hike uphill to see the other tiers of the falls. You have to trek for about 10-15 minutes before reaching the 2nd Tier of Kawasan Falls.

A magical view of Kawasan Falls Tier 3, the most friendly for swimming and best for picture taking. The trail from second to third is the steepest and most slippery so you must be cautious if you decide to go here. If you don’t have anyone who’s been to the 3rd falls, there is a chance of getting lost but trust me you won't get lost as long as you followed the trail uphill.

The 3rd tier of Kawasan Falls. This is my favourite level because it's not crowded like the 1st and 2nd. I can go swimming and enjoy the magical turquoise crystal clear water.

##How to get to Alegria Dive Resort there:

1. From South Bus Terminal, take a Ceres Bus bound for BATO VIA BARILI (Note, this is important: Don’t take the bus bound for BATO via OSLOB because that bus will pass by on the eastern side. Badian is on the west). Ask the driver or conductor to drop you off at Alegria Dive Resort Travel time from Cebu City to Alegria is approximately 3-4 hours.
2. From Oslob to Alegria Dive Resort From Oslob, you should first take a bus to Bato and then change to a bus that goes to Badian or Cebu City (via Barili). The journey takes about 1.5 hours.
