Visiting Barcelona - Day 2

in #travelfeed6 years ago (edited)

There are lots of attractions to visit in Barcelona. On our second day we were pretty much unprepared and decided to visit Sagrada Familia. Apparently there are so many visitors that you have to book tickets in advance - we had to learn this the hard way. When we arrived at the location around noon there were only tickets available for the afternoon at around 18:00.
So if you're going to Barcelona and are planning to visit the place (which you should), better be prepared and book tickets online - there are several ticket selling websites. Every one we found charged a service fee of around 15 Euros though - so we went for the cheapest one and got our tickets for the next day. At least we could get a look and then headed off to La Rambla again.

That day it was really hot and we stopped for Sangria and snacks at a restaurant at La Rambla and went on with planning the rest of the day.

Our next stop for the day was Montujic, a 173m hill just above the harbor of Barcelona. The plan was to take the cable car from there down to the seafront. There is a cliff railway going up to the hill which was included in the "Hola BCN" public transport ticket that we got and from there you can take a cable car to Montujic castle, or walk around 10 meters to the "Teleferic de Montjuic" cable car down to the city. The ride takes you across the harbor area and takes only a few minutes but it is definitely worth it. You can also take the cable car up to Montujic of course.

From the bottom station of the cable car its only a few meters to the beautiful Barcelona beach. We went for drinks at a small cocktail bar and then went for an evening walk along the seaside before heading to one of the many restaurants in the area. We picked one of the seafront areas, but there are also a lot of choices if you head a few blocks towards the city center.

Oh wow. It's nice to travel to other countries... Wonder what tree that is in Montujic? I like the color. ❤️
