Greece has many amazing destinations and spring is the best season to visit them.
So today I am going to share with you an unforgettable trip that took place in May, a couple of years ago!

Halki is part of the Dodecanese group of islands and the smallest inhabited one. Since it is just 4 miles west of Rhodes it is common among tourists to visit it for a day trip.
I started shooting from the local ferry that was taking me there and the first thing I noticed approaching Halki is how small it is.

Moving closer I saw the port which is the only village on the island. Emborio or Nimborio has a population of around 300 persons and it is built in Venetian style.

But it wasn’t until we were in the port that I felt absolutely mesmerized by the beauty of the place. I was surrounded by an amazingly picturesque, peaceful and relaxing scenery and I found myself shooting to every direction!

The walk into the village was a time travel to Halki’s glory days in the 19th century when commerce and sea sponges were sources of great income for the people of the island.

During the second decade of the 20th century people started to migrate leaving beautiful houses and mansions decaying ever since. But even like this the beauty of the buildings is still obvious.

Walking along the seaside I kept thinking what a hidden paradise is this island for people seeking quietness and relaxation! It is just the perfect location to enjoy the sun, the crystal clear sea and Greek traditional food, all in walking distance from your bed!

The last picture was taken from the ferry, looking back this time, while I was promising to myself to return as soon as possible!
