Hey travelers, non travelers and travelers without moving! The Lazy Nomad here! Hope you’re all fine!
I'm here to continue the history in Kabylie! For the ones who missed the last part, you can check it here ! There, I did a small introduction about the Kabyle culture, the actual story starts now!

Heading to Kabylie

It was Ramadan in The White City (Algiers), so life mostly occurred during the night. Not only because it was the time to eat but also because it was way to warm during the day. I was walking around in Le Biar, a neighbourhood in the upper part of the city and I stopped at some random café to hear some Chaabi music and fulfil my spirit with green tea.

From there, I was able to not only enjoy the things that I went to search for, but also all the life that was happening at the same time in the rooftops below Le Biar. Algiers gives you this television experience like, where you can look for a rooftop spend some minutes contemplating it and then just easily switch to another "channel", rooftop I mean. These "channels" are filled with music, dance, cooking, fireworks... Anyway it´s a really good bundle.

After spending some time there, in this IMAX 4D experience, I was ready to move, but suddenly I felt a gently touch in my shoulder. It was a tall guy, well dressed grinning man, that presented himself as Adlane. He joined me for another tea and we spent some time chatting, after a while we both thought it was time to leave, but first we shared our contacts...

Some days have passed, and I was no longer in the mood to continue in Algiers, I wanted to visit more! But I didn't know where to start, it is an huge country with a lot to see. I suddenly thought of Adlene, and I asked him what he was up to, for the next days.

I had no response that day, and in the next one I went to visit the Kasbah the old neighbourhood of Alger. Amazing place! It was full of these tiny immersive streets, craftsmen all over the place and children running around giving colour to the white walls. While experiencing such a joy in this place, a blonde shaved man grabbed my arm really hard and told me in my hears: “Get out of this place as quickly as possible, this is dangerous, trust no one!”. And even before I tried to say something, he had already vanished.... Some seconds after Adlene replies me.

He says, “Hey, I’m going now to Kabylie, do you want to go?”. I thought about what the guy in the Kasbah had just said, but I really wanted to visit more than Alger, so I went to my place, I packed my stuff, I met Adlene, and there I was, ready to go to Tizi-Wezzu.

Adlene and a friend picked me up in a two-seat van, and so I took the back of the van, with no windows and some beers to entertain myself. I found it odd, but luckily, the van had a side door I could open, so my five-hour journey was spent legs hanging outside the van just contemplating the view on my way to the mountains.

When we reached the Kabylie region, all women wore colourful and flowly beautiful dresses... I could see by sneaking my head outside the side door.

When we arrived to Adlene’s place, the house had no electricity and no water, with a fountain just half a mile away. Until there, I thought I was in some kind of kidnapping scenario... Was I?

To be continued...
