This pic, is a tease shot, and a chance to say how good was the meal with the fish that's been caught from nearby. But the meal only came after the journey. So let us start, with the begining :) .

The Ohrid Lake

Few bits of general info:

* This is the OHRID Lake

This lake is so big, is spread in two countries: Macedonia and Albania . In Macedonia gets through Ohrid, which is one of the most beautiful cities (and turisty) of the country, and then Struga; Struga it's more like a town, but has still many of the rural and spiritual prints of Macedonia . And then of course, the Ohrid Lake goes (or i should say starts) in Albania, somewhere nearby the border of the two countries .

* And here is in Albania, where the Springs are emerging and that are fuelling the lake.

In this post, we have rented a car and drove all the way up to the Albanian border, and got a passport stamp just to see this little beauty.

Here there are cold springs that are emerging, and which eventually flow into the Ohrid Lake, which is a reason why it grew to such a vast area, for a lake.

The water is cold and clean; it's so clean you can see crystal clear the bottom, even though is like 5m deep; and more than that, the locals (the driver) encouraged me to drink directly from where i was in the boat. Yeap, directly from the source. And it felt so fresh, that i kept drinking while we were sailing with the boat. Hands got frozen though as i was doing it too often :)) .

This is the boat (the one on the left) we used to trip the lake, and see a peaceful corner of nature .

You can have a drink or a small meal on this little floating restaurant whether, you you're hungry, thirsty or just want to chill.

And of course, as there's no bush without mosquitos, there's also a thorn to mess with this landscape: a church .

Great meal in an amazing setting. What not to love about this? I enjoyed your post and it also made me hungry 😋

Huh glad to hear that. Did you had something to eat then, afterwards reading my post? hihihi

I love the second shot! What an amazing lake! I love the color of water!

Yeah it is lovely indeed. If you could only be there, and just swim or drink from it, so cool! hehe

Can you even drink that water?

Yeah sure! I even drank so many times during the boat trip. Obviously though, in the area from where it emerges, where the springs are. If you venture further on into the lake out of Albania, i wouldn't recommend drinking. But it's still looks quite clear and see the bottom. And you can even see small fishes swimming at your feet . They will come if you stay still haha .

That's interesting. We have clear rivers in Switzerland but I never thought of drinking the water there. I probably would as part of survival, lol. Cool, that you can do so in Albania!

We drink water from fountains :)

Yeah it's cool. I dont know though if it's in the whole Albania (probably not), but in that particular place it was the case yeah. But these were springs, so were coming from the underground, which was probably acting as a filtering system or sorts. The lake into which it was flowing, was clear, but i dont think it'd be recommended to drink hehe. But yeah, survival wise, anything can be ''adjusted'' for survival purposes :d

I got it know! Of course you can drink it like then at that place 🙂 Thank you for your patience with explaining 😉

Hihi most welcome :^

Amazing scenery, @teetee
Very beautiful pictures!
You can take a canvas and start drawing this water surface of the lake!
And your photos delight me!
Very accurately transferred to the beauty of these places!

Beautiful angles and a very interesting description.
Fascinating and knowledgeable.
Thank you very much!

Such a living description you have made right there @singa. It was indeed lovely and peaceful too. Have you ever been to any balkan countries before ?

Unfortunately, not yet!

I see. Where would you like to go next, if you'd have the chance and the means to do so then ??

I would like to visit Skopje fortress!

Hehe, it is nice to visit yeah. Though is not as great as the castles and fortresses that are in Romania. Check the Bran castle for example and other beuatiful places in Transilvania and as well, from around Romania .

The place looks awesome and the food looks yummy !

Nyum nyum! It was indeed; especially the fish, so fresh and tasty.. :^
