Exploring Paris - Top 10 things to do and see when you are there NR. 1 - 5
http://www.universia.es/estudiar-extranjero/francia/ciudades/paris/1119
-Paris, the city of love! Where people come to have a romantic time!
-Paris the city of fashion! Fashion week offers the most wanted catwalks of Europe right here where Chanel, Saint Laurent & Louis Vuitton are home.
- Paris the city of art & culture with over 160 museums, around 200 art galleries and ca. 100 theaters.
There are a lot of events going on all year long including concerts, exhibitions, music and film festivals, fashion week and sport competitions in the capital of France. About 16 million tourists are visiting this city every year for different reasons. And I can see why. For me it is the 3rd time visiting this city and the vibe always catches me.
I love the people, the language, the special places, the food & wine and the culture here!
So that is why I present you a few places and things you should see or do while you are here:
NR 1: The Eifel Tower
This monument is the towns landmark. It is 324meters tall and counts 364 stairs (I counted them xD) to the first platform and 745 to the second one.
It is really hard to climb, but because of the beautiful view totally worth it. You could also use the elevator to get to any of the platforms. From the 2nd one till the top you have to take it.
There you find a little museum about its history. Because of the wind you can feel how the tip is swinging a bit.
It was built 1889 from Gustave Eiffel for the world exhibition to memorize the 100. years of French revolution.
From that moment on it is the highest monument in town, which makes it visual from almost everywhere. At night it is always illuminated and looks beautiful. For me it was always the highlight of the day to spot it at night from wherever I was.
This is the awesome view you get from the top!
2.Sacré-Cœur de Montmartre
The way up is already special. It is built on top of a hill, which is by the way the second highest point of the city after the Eifel Tower, from where you have a beautiful view over the city. With its special architecture, the beautiful Mosaik of Jesus and the beautiful windows it is one of my favorite churches and one of the most visited spots of the city.
It was build in 1914 after the example of Istanbuls Hagia Sophia and Markusdom in Venice.
3. Louvre
The Louvre is located at a former residence of monarchs "Palais du Louvre" and one of the most visited museums in the world. The best and most beautiful way to get there is to take the metro until Place de la Concorde, where you can see the big obelisk. From there you cross the big park Jardin des Tuileries until you get to Place du Carrousel, where you pass by the small Arc in order to get to the entrance of the museum.
The Louvre is the 3rd biggest museums in the world with 380.000 different art pieces presented on 60.000 m². Especially the greek and roman collection is impressive together with paintings from the 15th - 19th century. The most famous piece would be Leonardo da Vincis Mona Lisa I guess.
I always imagined it bigger to be honest. It is a quite small painting but still... you can´t tell if she is smiling or not.
4. Champs-Élysées
In Paris you can find over 10 000 Restaurants and bars. A lot of them are located at the Avenue Champs-Elysées, which is 1.9 km long and goes all the way from place de la concorde until place Charles de Gaulle, where the Arc de Triomphe is located.
It is perfect to drink a coffee or go shopping in one of the luxury shops along the avenue. We went to have a drink at some bar and observed the Parisian "fashion people" walking down the street. That is extremely funny coming from a life in Playa del Carmen where everybody walks around barefoot or in flip flops and bikini ;)
This avenue is also used for the annual Bastille Day military parade, and as the finish of the Tour de France cycle race.
5. Arc de Triomphe
This Arc is a bigger version of the Arc du Carrousel which is located next to the Louvre. For me it is a mystery how cars can come out of the traffic circle, that is built around it. Just look how many streets are leaded to it! - It´s crazy, I would be trapped.

Well, you get there walking through a tunnel. The Arc itself honores people, who died for France in Napoleonic Wars and the French Revolutionary, with the names of all French victories and generals written down on its inner and outer surfaces.
This where the Nr 1 - 5 of places you should see Paris. Nr 6 -10 coming up soon! So stay tuned ;)
Cheers, Liz

Very nice pictures!
I like Paris too and you can always discover new places, even if you have been there many times. And the "standard places" like Eiffel Tower, Sacré coeur etc. are worth a view every time. I must admit that I've been there many times but never have climbed on the Eiffel Tower - there were so many people every time that I was not willing to queue. At least, the last time I was there, I was on the Tour Montparnasse - you have a great view from there too.
It has been quite a bit since I was in Paris the last time, even if it's just about 2 hours from here with the train. Maybe soon, it's time again. By the way: do you know the Sainte-Chapelle? For me, it was kind of an insider tip (ok, now it is not anymore...) and I found it very impressive.
Sainte - Chapelle is part of the second part of this article together with Notre Dame ;) I love it there. You should climb the Eifel Tower! Its a different experience. When I went there where not too many people on the stairs .. just on the elevator and the platforms.. so you are kind of private at some parts of the Eifel tower ;) Thanks for your feedback!
Awesome picture and great post. Paris suits you. Lots of places to get in trouble and plenty of wine.
:) Love it.
