English is widely spoken in indian cities. But what about small towns and rural areas where generally people don't know much about english. So here are some words which will definitely help you to make some conversation with local people and make your journey easier.

  • To greet someone:

Namaste: is a respectful form of greeting in Hindu custom, found in india & nepal.

Namaste is usually spoken with a slight bow and hands pressed together, palms touching and fingers pointing upwards, thumbs close to the chest.

  • Where is the bathroom?

    "Bathroom kidhar hain"

Now asking this is a little bit of confusing one because in india and in some other countries, asking for bathroom means asking for toilet. SO, BE CAREFUL!
